Project 12 x 2 - 1, Scene 17: ElarZLechon

It's so beautifully arranged on the plate — you know someone's fingers have been all over it.
- Julia Childs
An unplanned foodhunt brought us one OT-night at a nearby ElarZ branch here in Makati.

Ang pasakalye:
ElarZLechon (yesss, that's how they actually spell it) prided itself as the Pambansang Lechon. Obviously, they serve lechon and other roasted goodies on top of typical Filipino dishes like tilapia, dinuguan, sinigang, and caldereta to name a few.

pili pili

They recently opened this branch along Dela Rosa Street in Makati, just across Perea Street (where Mom and Tina's is).

  • Dinuguan
  • Lechon
  • Lumpiang Ubod
  • Libreng Sabaw
  • Rice
lechon dinuguan

Nothing special on their dinuguan. Masarap yung sauce though and take note that not because there's nothing special about it, its taste sucks. It's just that, it's your typical dinuguan na kakaiba lang yung sahog. And I still prefer laman ng baboy.

Addendum: Supposedly, dinuguan lechon pala iyon. Wala akong natikman na lechon whatsoever. Hehe.

lumpia aftermath on a crappy shot

Okay sana yung lumpiang ubod, kaso makapal yung wrap.

I know not to expect anything spectacular sa mga libreng sabaw ng mga gentong fastfood.

11. Thou shall not sabaw.

I'm disappointed. Isang platito to be exact. True to what they promise.

To defend them (or at least to try to make sense about it), gabi na kami kumain doon (around 8:30-ish). Still, it's disappointing for a "lechon resto".

Ibang chechebureche:
Madaming pagpipilian sa kanilang menu. As I mentioned earlier, mostly Pinoy dishes. Fast food type ang setup so pay-as-you-order at madaming combo meal choices.

Nothing much to expect about the environment. So the place can get noisy. Not that I really mind it.

The waiters are attentive and generally accomodating.

Bago ko pala tapusin ito, kelangan ko lang talaga banggitin ito... napaka jejemon ng "ElarZlechon" for a name. I read somewhere that it's an amalgam of the pioneers' names so there must be some sentimental reasons about it. I don't mean to disrespect. But really? ElarZLechon?

Kaching!:
They use the catch phrase "lechon by the kilo" because their lechon can be bought piece meal. With the quality I sampled though, parang lugi pa for the price.

I feel cheated, really. May nabibilhan ako ng lechon sa jollijeep malapit sa office na mas masarap AT mas mura. My point being, I won't complain if it's really dirt cheap. Kaso hindi.

Price range of the food is at P130 to P200.

But that's just giving it way too much credit.
