Project 12 x 2 - 1: The Baguio Gauntlet, Part Deux (Cora's Restaurant)
Do not be afraid of simplicity. If you have a cold chicken for supper, why cover it with a tasteless white sauce which makes it look like a pretentious dish on the buffet table at some fance dress ball?My Baguio gauntlet, part deux! Nangyari ito nung nakaraang four-day long weekend, amidst a Signal #3 cyclone!
- X. Marcel Boulestin
This time I'm with the Couch Potato herself (plus friends in the office). Walang bagyo bagyo... foood triiip!!!
Link to the first Baguio food trip entries.
Good Taste is Good Taste! It will always be my number one tsibog spot in Baguio for the sheer bang-for-your-bucks-ness of the place! I mean, come on, a very delicious serving of your lutong-bahay food that serves 3 to 4 persons per order at P120 to P130 only?? Come on!
In short, I made a believer out of them (which never fails, everytime I bring people there). Atay-yay-yay!
50's Diner is a staple. Parang tourist spot na ito ng Baguio. Kumander Kat and the gang enjoyed it and the huge servings. Nuff said.
Unfortunately, Oh My Gulay! is closed for the four-day long weekend. Badtrip. So we ended up some place else. Sayangs.
Moving on. Ibabahagi ko yung iba pang kinainan namin during that stay. Humandang magutom!
Unang Tagpo:
Pizza Volante
Ikalawang Tagpo:
Cora's Restaurant.
They are one of several eateries lining up the cliffside overlooking the mines of Mines View Park. On a clear day (that's if walang fog), kitang kita ang naaaapakagandang view ng mga bubong ng bahay na parang kabuteng nagsulputan sa supposedly forested and breath-taking site of the valley below (at least from what I remembered when I was young). If you did not catch my sarcasm, yae na.
Galing sa main entrance ng Mines View (where all the pasalubong stores are), take the path going to the Good Shepherd Convent. Cora's should be two or three blocks away, sa right side.
- Sweet and Sour Fish
- Fried Chicken
- Beef with Brocolli
- Iced Tea
Okay lang yung sinigang na baboy. Typical na lutong bahay type. Nothing special about it but nothing bad either.
Olats yung sweet and sour fish. Ilang beses ko pa uulitin to prove my point? Matabang!
I dig.
Oo, hindi na ganun kaganda ang makikita sa labas nito on a fine weather pero a view is a view. It's still awesome to dine by a cliffside panorama. Yun nga lang, sobrang cloudy nung time na andun kami. Boo!
The menu is outright simple but all the food are Pinoy by nature so walang masyadong kaeklatan ang kelangan para gawing elaborate ang menu. Halos lahat ng pagkain nila ay for 2 to 3 servings, yung mga for one serving naman ay walang masyadong option so forget it.
Kaching!:
P130 to 300 ang range ng mga pagkain.
Namamahalan ako dito taking in consideration yung kalidad ng lugar at lasa ng pagkain, mas madami pang makakainan sa Baguio (of the same genre ng ulam) na mas worth it sa presyong ito.
Ang hatol:
Hindi worth dumayo para lang kumain dito.
PERO kung nasa area na lang din naman ng Mines View (say to visit the place or going to Good Shepherd), why not? There's not much option around the area anyway and I can say competitive naman ang Cora's compared sa mga ibang kainan na nasa paligid.
7 out of 14.
