Where Dreams Do Come True

Rock Band rocks!

Last Saturday, the boyz were in tambay mode until 5 in the morning just playing Rock Band in Xbox 360 and it really makes time fly like a jetfighter in mach 1! The last time I remembered checking for the time earlier that night (or morning) it was only around 1AM then what seemed just after a couple of songs, it was already 4AM. Grabe, ganun ka-aliw.

I spent more playing on the drums. Frustration ko kasi 'to since my hand-foot coordination sucks. Back when I was still on a real band, I always make it a point to sit down on the drumset and hit some rolls while the rest of the band was still busy setting up. Pero hindi pa din ako matuto-tuto. Sa Rock Band, aliw mag drums kahit ambulok ko pa din pag dating sa part na may pedals (bass drum). Kahit man lang sa laruan e nakapag drums ako na may kasabay na musical piece.

Anyway, we swapped roles from drums, to both guitars (leads and bass), to the mic. Astig yung mic part. Ang sinusundan niya ay yung actual modulation ng pitch ng singer. So regardless kung asa tono ka or wala, mahina man o pasigaw, basta yung pitch mo e nakakasunod sa original melody nung lyrics (hindi sintunado), swak na yun. So yung mga maarte kumanta, yung mga naglalagay ng "kulot" sa ibang parts ng song, hindi papasa yun. Kahit anong ganda pa ng rendition niya. In short, pang lasing. Haha!

I can imagine using this as a more entertaining substitute to the typical videoke-mic. Mas madami ang may ginagawa and promotes team-play. Only problem is the song limitation. Sabi nga ni Kei... hindi ito Pop Band or New Wave Band... there's a reason why it's called "Rock Band". Hehe. Onga naman. Nagtaka lang ako kung bakit may "Roam" by the B52's (80's chick flick song). Pero oo pinag-tripan namin syang tugtugin.

Anyway, as it is, most of the songs are really of the rock genre (bands such as Disturbed, Black Sabbath, Deep Purple) so kumbaga may target niche pa yung game. But I can see it catering to other genres in the future. Songs are downloadable from the web so there's a plethora of songs to choose from. That's if you have the original game and console. They block web updates from those who use custom and pirated stuffs. Dapat lang!

Ongapala, we suck most of the time kaya pangalan muna namin "Suck Band".

Space Hulk by GW
Before that night, we were at our same ol' tambayan in Virramall. Geek mode muna as Sandico brought a classic 1989 board game "Space Hulk" by Games Workshop. We just played it until store closing. Before heading to Kei's place, bumili muna kami ng chicha... a whole grilled chikken and 2 chunks of liempo. Heart stopper.

On the next day (despite my two-hour sleep), I was still able to barely drag myself to Tomas Morato to meetup with the airsoft team (Screaming BB's and People's Park). Surprise guest appearance si Storm na matagal na naming hindi nakalaro. May ipapa-blind date daw sa akin na tropa nyang looking for a "serious BF". Hehe... touched ako, kasi ako ang naisip nyang "serious BF" material. Haha.

Games were at San Jose del Monte, Bulacan. Actually isang "game" lang for me since I slept on the first round of games. Di ko na kaya yung antok after namin kumain (baboy reflex). Umuulan ulan pa so mas malakas ang tawag ng Nyu-Nyu Land (juan tamad reflex). Games were hosted by the local airsoft team, SJAG. Umuwi din kami agad dahil naging consistent yung bagsak ng ulan na parang hindi na nya trip tumigil.

Dinner na lang at Bagoong Club Resto near Morato. Panalo ang mga pagkain. Sakto lang for its price tag.

Naka-uwi ako ng maaga, after namin tumambay ng sobrang saglit sa Shak. Nakapaglaro pa kami ng matagal ng mga kambal.
