Wisetalking Z-Deprived Non-Natives Part 2

Shak Attendance (April 18): Jubay, Hairy Critter, Pookiemonster, Plim, Pol, Jumping Johnny, Bilog, Jan Liit, Topher, Obi Doo, Fluffman, Riderman, Scotch Brite, Jep, Joma, Half-Pint

Something Fishy Entrance

Midway along the tambay session (12+ midnight), Me, Arvs, and the Great Maw rode once again to Something Fishy in Eastwood to take part on the midnight gluttony promo. We poked at the boyz mental palates and cajoled them to join us... in vain! Argh! More talks ensued in the face of never-ending fried food and saturating soda supply!

After that bountiful feasting, we returned in Kamias to goof around with the boyz of the Shak again. It was already 3AM.

To continue what has been talked about that day...

Round 1 @ Something Fishy, Eastwood

# Nurse Siree

"Lower your standards and it will be easy for you to find happiness."
- Jake Pookiemonster (aka The Great Maw, KP, Gyudon Warrior), da Shak's Pookie-Hunter extraordinaire
It has been a common notion that picking up a Nursing course would secure a good fortune in the future. Sadly, it was just a hype.

I got a Nursing student sister and several relatives pursuing or have pursued the field and Crispy's mom has been a head nurse in popular hospitals here and abroad, and we know how deym hard it is to secure a good nursing work, especially after the Oh-Great-America's indefinite recession. Most students after graduation (and even after passing the licensing exams!) became fodders to multinational call center companies as agents.

Yes, a couple of years ago it could be a wise choice, but with the surge of aspirants brainwashed into taking up Nursing by false advertisements and thoughtless hype, it's just not the same anymore. Four years ang nursing (plus ilang years pa sa mga babagsak o titigil dahil wala nang pambayad sa mahal na tuition), do you think after that four years the demand for Nurses will still be the same as it was several years ago? And to think, HINDI biro ang kumuha ng Nursing. Ipadadala kayo sa kung saan-saang sulok ng Pinas (even dun sa mga lugar na piso na lang Impyerno na!) at sa pinaka pesteng schedule na kaya mong isumpa... as part ng "practical application" na required for graduation.

More number crunching would support the point...

Ilan na ang Nursing schools sa Pinas? Nagsulputang parang kabute. Even AMA, a pioneer of IT courses in Phils, offers Nursing now just to ride the bandwagon.

Which brought the boyz to our next topic...

Round 2 @ Something Fishy, Eastwood

# Up the Wazoo
Halos lahat naman ng tao kilala na si Canister Boy ng Cebu.

Just several months ago, the "concerned and righteous" citizens of Pinas has been vehemently affected by the "racial slur" delivered by Teri Hatcher against our medical practitioners. Andaming nag-react, even to the point that "Desperate Housewives" was considered to be banned (or was it, already?) from local TV. It was a buzz for quite a long while.

But isn't it funny that after this whole rumpus, things such as the massive Nursing licensing exams leakage and now this canister-up-the-wazzooo scandal surface?

I can imagine Miss Teri smiling derisively with a comic bubble in her head that reads "Kitaaaaams!". Haha.

Talk about digging your own graveyard.

I really haven't watched the clip and no, I'm not interested even when I had the chance. But I know it's brainless fun nonetheless no matter how much I condone the act.

# Kaching!

"Don't get high with your own supply!"
- Jumping Johnny, Shak Brother Number 3

Casino talks followed. It seems all that was present that night has been in a casino. Two of the guys had been keen bettors back in their days and I, myself, had visited and played a couple of games in Sydney's famous Star City Casino.

Being the number crunchers we are, we all agreed that there were only several games that gives you good odds on winning... big-small and roulette are the first two games in the list.

Tips on Casino Betting (an amalgam of our opinions, based on experiences):
* don't bet big. you'll be the focus of dealers and their manipulative tricks. just carry the looks of a lowly bettor. dapat muka kang "palagong baboy" in Tagalog.

Palagong Baboy (adj) - umaasang manalo ng limpak limpak sa pagtaya ng pakonti konti. Source: Diksyunaryo ni Lolo

* know where to bet. as i said earlier, there are games that will give you good odds.
* it's hard to pull off an earnings with the "palagong baboy" technique. it takes good number crunching skills AND uber self-control.
* you can do the "win big-lose big" technique: set your mind that you'll do (AND ONLY do) the "win big-lose big" maneuver, go to a casino, bet ALL your gambling funds for that day on a game with a good odds, wait for the result, then go home no matter what is it (win or lose). that's the meaning of "if you'll gonna win, you'll gonna win. if you'll gonna suck, you'll gonna suck... no matter what".
* and syempre yung best tip... go to casino with a mind set that you'll gonna lose your gambling money.

Round 3 @ Something Fishy, Eastwood

# Status Symbol
*insert Havaianas (fucking-ei, ano ba spelling neto?) and i-Pod bashing here*

Sorry. I understand the COMPULSION to flaunt but NO I'm NOT really impressed with people wearing expensive third world country slippers (which doesn't really look nicer compared to cheaper competitors, even those locally produced) and people sporting an uber hyped-up marketing ploy product (that has similar features with cheaper mp3 players and more flexible products like a PSP, anyway).

Nuff said.

Class dismissed at 4:30AM.

May liwanag na nung umuwi ako. Ambilis ng araw. Tsk tsk.
