Boknay

Happy Birthday Tita 9!!

Last last night, I did my last minute gift-hunting in Glorietta for the folks here in the office and I was able to distribute their presents yesterday. Sa wakas! One less group to concern myself of. Later tonight, I'll go out with the Justice League-HP tropa after work to celebrate the Green Lantern's return-op-da-come-back from Singapore. I have gifts for them too... Ho! Ho! Ho!

After that Glorietta spree, I rushed home to ask the sister to wrap the gifts. I then headed to Hap Chan Ermita for Tita 9's birthday bash. Two videoke songs and three cans of beer after, we headed back to their condo, chillax a bit, then with Kim and Gi, went to Starbucks Malate for yet another attempt to claim my Istarbuko planner...

...which never happened... again.

Tumambay lang kami, kwentuhan, and worked on an entrepreneurial brilliance that involved the marketing of an artificial "boknay" for nursing students on the go. Waha. Mga flip na idea ni Aina.

Session ended some minutes past midnight.

Sandstone Bites Nights of Wonders

Friday Evening - "Sandstone Christmas Bash"
Location: Blanvil Resto, Leviste Street, Makati

We had our Christmas party last Friday at ang theme ay 80's generation.

This year, halos hindi nabago yung line-up namin from last year (although, randomized yung pag-pili ng groupings... bunutan).

Group 1:
(defending champion cast) - Obi, Roy, Bubung, Myce, Glenn
(new additions) - Menchie, Portia, Lee, Ling, Chris

I really would like to go on with the details of our presentation but I'm too lazy to write at the moment.

Like last year ulet, walang praktis praktis. Walaaang ka-effort effort. Astig. Kaming defending champion cast e two-time winners na, except Myce who's now on his third champion title in a row. Angas.

Group 1 for the Win!
Obi, Menchie, Lee, Glenn, Portia, Bung, Roy, Chris, Ling, Myce (not in pic)

Sana next year, ma-aksidenteng magkakasama pa din kami sa grupo. Yan e kung me "next year" pa. Abangan!

Sumunod naman sila Menchie, Nors, Karen, and MJ.

May kasal pa akong pupuntahan and I should be up in three hours!

Got Istarbuko?
L-R: Obi, Nors, Evs, Cha, Mhye, John, Bung, Karen, MJ, Mench

Saturday Morning - "Another One Bites the Dust"
Location: Ermita Church, Del Pilat Street, Ermita (doh!)

Lakas mo sakin, man!

The ceremony started around 10:30AM. I was first offered to be the Best Man but ended up among the Secondary Sponsors. Haha.

Seriously, his best man did a great meaningful speech and given the chance, I would just ditto to every word he said. Put it to heart, Bozz!

Tinay was there pala. Cutey. She was with her sis and Lou and another dude whose name I forgot. Sayang walang videoke hehe.

Happenings of Note:
* Yung hinagis ni Gelo yung pigeon, it flew in the air for a while and hit the pavement hard and half-dead. I dunno why. Poor bird.
* The reception ceremonies ended with a music from Eraserhead... "Sa Wakas", while the couple strut and dance to the tune. That was ANGAS! Astig nun Gelo, I dig.
* Extra ako sa AV presentation. A picture of me and Bozz Beef scrolled there, taken on one of our airsoft spree (in military gears and guns in twain).

Attendance: Dan, Dadang, Owen, Obi, Pork, Arvs, Jake, Jeff Yu, Romy, Soc, Mylene, Kaya the Wildborne, ang nakalimutan... belat!

Saturday Evening - "Fortress Nights"
Location: Fortress, Virramall, Greenhills, San Juan

Sunday Evening - "Bazaar of Wonders"
Location: World Trade Center, Manila

World Bazaar Entrance Ticket

Grabe. Cutey. Hawig niya nga si Pouty. Dati medyo pumapalag pako sa comparison e.

Hindi ganun kaganda yung mga stuffs ngayon kesa last year. Pero panalo pa din yung exhibit, overall.

Five to Nine

December 5 and 6 - "Young Love, Sweet Love"

Happy Birthday Lola Acelds and Lolo Johnny Tango!

Ang sweet noh, magkasunod ang birthday nila. We celebrated their birthdays in Luk Foo near Multinational Village. With Lola was three of her amigas. One of them was the actual doctor that conducted my dad's physical examination before he entered the military waaaay back during the time of the dinosaurs.

Argh. Does it mean, I'm destined not to be? Abangan!

Gadaming pagkain. So kwentuhan muna ng malupet.

I ate to that! Lobo ang tiyan kong umuwi.

Attendance: Lola Acelds, Doktora Amiga, Amiga 2, Bading Dong, Tita Angie, Tito Sprite, Tita Ophen, Jason, Jara, Badong, Cheng, Liz & Lei, Mommy Groovy, Obi Doobie, Sponklong, Ribbons, ang nakalimutan... belat!

December 7 - "QA Team Christmas Bash"
We held it at Di'Marks in Greenbelt 3. Bumaha ng pizza at ang word of the night... "ravioli"!

Attendance: Nheys, Obi Doobie, Kring, Bubung, Nieto, Miss Mhye, Portia, Cara, Ranger Roy, Evs, Chacha, Ferdie Ferds, Jama, ang nakalimutan... belat!

December 7 - "SBB Christmas Bash"

Yung grupo namin sa airsoft - "Screaming BB's" - held an impromptu Christmas party in Gerry's Grille in front of ABS-CBN, Timog. Shot shot lang, kainan, at kalokohan.

Halos mabuo ang Team SBB with some of our Team Apocalypse friends (actually, dalwa lang silang sumipot).

Maglalaro na daw sila ulet next year.

Sakto. Mukang dadami na ulit ang grupo. In time para sa plano kong trippings na gumawa ng Airsoft TV... a short program about the hobby na may halong kalokohan. Kausap ko kagahapon si Mayor about the nitty-gritties of shooting a raw show.

Attendance: Kurnel Paji, Arvs, Le Jakob, Jeng, Jinggoy, Rommel, Lloyd, Hansy, Jubay, Kuneho, Zeb the Destroyer, Obi Doobie, Val, Kornpleks, Dok Teban + GF, Attorney Brian, Jason Phatboi, ang nakalimutan... belat!

December 8 - "Bang Nights"
Tumambay kami as usual sa Fortress sa Virramall. May dalang "Bang!" si Kim. Card game siya na malupet for up to 8 players. Nakaka-ubos ng oras... up to the point na literally "nanginginig na ako sa gutom" dahil past 9pm na pala at waffle pa lang ang kinakain ko... nang hindi ko namamalayan!

Theater Mall

Commercial Break: Birthday ni Jara this day... happy happy birthday!

I met them at Starbucks Theatermall bago namin naisipang sa Starbucks Harbour View magpuyat.

Andami kong natutunang konyo term sa kanila... courtesy of their everyday konyo encounters. Basag sila samin da whole night (or morning):
TOSH - The Old Spaghetti House (hataw sa karumi gamitin sa sentence ito!)
CBTL - Coffee Beans and Tea Leaf
OL - Overlooking (sa Antipolo)
RP - Robinson's Place
...tsaka syempre yung mga klassik:
Shang - Shangri La
EK - Enchanted Kingdom

Umuwi na kami nila Ains and Gian a couple of minutes past 2AM. May airsoft game pa pala ako in 4 hours!

December 9 - "Land of the Zombies"
Aga ko nagising. Kulang pa sa tulog from the tambay last night. Met the boyz of Screaming BB's at da Shak before 8AM then we pushed to Petron-NLEX to rendezvous with the rest of the gang (Sir Gem's Henchmen). After the attendance was completed, we headed further North to San Jose Del Monte... after several wrong turns inside Sta. Maria proper.

The gamesite (dubbed Somalia) is awesome. It's on top of a rolling hill, surrounded with ample ruins and game-enhancing natural terrains. Some prominent teams that attended were SJAG and HAGIBIS. Our team merged with Sir Gem's to form what we called GPA (Gem's Private Army)... hehe.

The games were good aside from several zombies assunder (you can't really avoid em in airsoft these days anyway). Sinasaktan na lang namin pag may nagkukunat. They have the option not to call a hit, but they don't have the option not to feel the PAIN. Haha.

First time ko ginamit si Lawnmower, my AK-74 pain gun. Inuna ko ginamit yung much friendlier HK-51 during the first two games but in cases of severe zombie-isms, some hurting should be called for.

Attendance: Kornpleks, Val, Obi Doobie, Jubay, Jeng, Jinggoy, Meng, Zeb the Destroyer, Xerxis, Garrkid, Hansy, Storm

Eh nagkayayaang mag inuman...

December 9 - "SBB Christmas Bash Part Deux"

Happy Horse (noun) - Pulang Kabayo beer variant; Urban legend has it that for every case of Pulang Kabayo there's a single "Happy Horse" that kicks more powerful than a regular Pulang Kabayo bottle. It was so coined because of the alleged smile on the horse of its markings. It could also be easily discerned from regular bottles through the label behind it which was written in red. Agent Four Seven

Nanood kami ng "Hitman" last Saturday sa Theater Mall. Last full show, pero gadami pa ding tao. 10pm na kasi ang sarado ng shop ni Mang, tapos aabot pa daw ng 11pm this coming weeks so kelangang tumambay ng konte para me kasama si Arvs. Astig naman sa Virra nights e. Gadaming "sights".

Hitman
Spoiler Alert! Spoiler Alert! Spoiler Alert!

Based from the Eidos game of the same title, "Hitman" is a story of a mercenary gunman only known as Agent 47. He was given a mission to assassinate a Russian president which later on involved him on a convoluted political plot of country-wide consequences. Along the way, he met the hotty Nika who unknowingly holds the answers to the identity of the double-crossing client. Together, they were able to crack the real score behind the conspiracy and just like any other action flick, the lead put an end to it (although the last part just screams PART TWO!).

I haven't played the Eidos game but a friend told me that the film gave justice to it. It's a typical action movie with flawless stunts and awesome close-combat scenes. The character made into Agent 47 is compelling in a way that you can really identify the cold-hearted assassin in him. Nika on the other hand (who has been half-naked on ample parts of the movie) portrayed the role of a passive victim quite well although I still don't think it has any significant relevance to the entire plot except for the movie to have a sexy lead actress. It even added to the awkwardness since Agent 47 should be completely devoid of emotion but the last parts of the film implied otherwise.

The concept of an organization of gun-for-hires is cool but the movie has been vague about the nature of the "Agency". I dunno if they intended it to be like that to add an air of shadiness on the org but I believe they should have divulged at least more info on them because along the movie you'll see several more agents going after 47 himself. And with it, there has been implications of "Agency" traditions (the short sword combat) that could be more interesting to viewers if explained.

In all, the movie is not a disappointment. It stays true to be your "action film" and a little bit more.

Rating: 6 gulamans.

Happy Birthday Ly!

Someday, I'll probably make do with life without wondering how you are and if you're okay... but for now, I just want you to know that I involuntarily smile with just a thought of you. May tumutugtog ng "It Might Be You" sa paligid ko kapag naiisip kita! Haha... yikeeee!

Hehe... ang keso. Parang mababasa ah.

Batgirl and Orange Dwarf

Starbucks-Malate... with Batgirl and Orange Dwarf (haha... peace!)

National Scale Model Competition 2007 (Click Me)

Screaming BB's in San Mateo (Click Me)

SBB Attendance: Obi, Rommel, Hans, Jeng, Jinggoy, Jun, Ian, Zeb, Val, Garrick

Si Lawnmower yung nasa taas (RPK siya... AK47 variant)
