Watched "Mr and Mrs Smith" last Sunday in Rob Starmall - San Fernando on our way home from Zambales. Astig talaga si Angelina Jolie... dyosa!
In my honest opinion, the movie was not meant to be realistic. I mean, c'mon, uber-efficient assassins, absence of cops at the right moment, invulnerability of the lead roles, cinematic approach to most action sequels... grabe parang Tagalog movie na ang bida e si Ramon Revilla Sr. ala "Agimat".
What made the movie standout from the stereotype is that subtle twist that appeared somewhere going towards the climax when the couple was assigned to gun down the same subject. Unbeknownst to them, though they will discover later, the subject was actually a bait to lure them into killing each other. This ruckus will of course, as to create a cinematic resolution to the conflict, end up with both assassins reconciling to work against a now known common enemy.
To sum up, some might say the movie is a crap. This is true from a certain point of view, when you're the type who enjoys a sense of true to life quality in their movies. But if you're someone who scoffs at impossibilities on supposed real-life movie setup, HUWAG niyo na panoorin ito. Mababadtrip lang kayo dahil maraming imposibleng nangyari sa pelikula na 'to. It is fiction in truest form.
As I said, I believe the focus of the scriptwriter or the director is not to focus on being realistic BUT to tackle subjects on marriage and to present a medium wherein they can show what MARRYING really is, down to the most basic of its essence.
IF this is what they intend us to get from the movie, then I stand in ovation, clapping my hands to produce the loudest sound I could.
Bravo! Another movie with a "sense". This comes in short lately.
Oh, and have I said Angelina Jolie deserves that number one spot as FHM's sexiest woman in the world?
