Warhammer 40,000 Miniature Game

Had a Warhammer 40K game in Glorietta today. I volunteered to assist this noobie how to play the game actually. It went well, I must say. Pretty educational in his part, very much unlike my noob days wherein, aside from being guided by this new gaming friend, I was all on my own in interpreting and understanding the complicated rules.

Bought 2 boxes of pizzas and softdrinks for the guys. Serves as a treat since it's my birthday last Monday. I still owe a treat to the Galleria guys though. I might go there this Saturday for that. Besides, I need to purchase another miniature tank we call the Predator to complete my Space Marines army.

For those who have no idea what Warhammer 40K is all about, Warhammer 40,000 is a "tabletop game" as what we call it because you will literally play on either a 4' x 4' or a 6' x 4' table. A player must have an army composed of different units of miniature models that will range from an infantry man to a hulking hightech tank. Parang tau-tauhan ng mga batang paslit. The difference is that this miniature figures were bought unassembled and unpainted so to complete a fully painted army, you will still have the gruelling task of assembling the models then painting them according to the norms of the army you've chosen. To start with, there's a LOT of army to choose from and there's an inside adage on the Warhammer 40K gaming community saying that a player's army reflects his personality.

I dunno about the factuality of it but my army is called the Space Marine's Dark Angels Chapter and they are known to be the most secretive and mysterious among the other Chapters of the Space Marines. Ganun ba ko?

Anyway, the game is played in accordance to a set of preset rules as described in the Warhammer Rulebook. This will primarily involve a measuring device (common na ginagamit e yung metro na pang karpintero) which will be used to measure the distance a model will move or the range a ballistic weapon can effectively shoot at something; and a couple of dice which will determine the outcome of most of your actions on the game like hitting an enemy with your weapons, saving the butt of your soldier from a lethal attack, rallying your squad's morale, etc.

That's basically it. Just visit the Games Workshop (the company behind Warhammer 40,000) website at http://us.games-workshop.com/games/40K/default.htm or just hit me with an email at
obi_parcon@yahoo.com if you're interested in knowing more about the game. Just a word of caution though: if you can't allocate a sufficient amount of moolah on this hobby, you better stay off with understanding and delving more about it since in itself it is like a lump of coccaine - the more you're hook, the more you'L ask for more, and it is not just an easy buy.

Bili ka na lang sa Recto ng mga sundalong plastic na kulay green tapos i-firing squad mo sa bahay gamit ay tansan.
