Around the World in Two Weeks

Lazy git, I is. Lots happened from when I scribbled them letters below. Hah! Can even blabber correct English, not!

Translation: Ako ay si Juan Tamad. Susmaryosep! Hindi man lamang ako makapag salita ng tamang Ingles!

Lakas trip. Hehe.

*****

Been literally all over the metro during the past two weeks:

Rob Galleria
The Rolling Hills Gaming Club hosted a Warhammer 40,000 miniature gaming tournament and I, with the help of some trusted buddies in the group, organized the said event. Eleven players participated and several more visited the tourney to support the hobby as Neutral Grounds sponsored the gaming area on their adjacent hallway near David's Salon.

It was a whole day of fun and good-natured heckling as curious passers-by ogled at the purty-painted miniatures and dioramic long tables. Some as old as our typical grannies politely asked stuffs regarding the game and how it was played.

You really just can't take no notice of seeing big guys pushing toy soldiers, y'know. Hehe.

Neutral Ground's new Superman posterboy

UP-College of Fine Arts
It's nice to be back!

And even without Manong Fishball, I've had my share of grub attack as the Great Maw - Jake Pookiemonster - brought a pack of Frenchy herb-smelling bread rolls and cans of meat spreads. The boys of IPMS (International Plastic Modellers Society - Bert Anido Chapter) was in full force as the great hangar of CFA was jampacked with miniature afficionados for a weekend workshop session.

I just painted one of my Space Marine miniature dude with a missile launcher. I'm slowly creeping of on my schedule of finishing my whole army before the next big Warhammer 40,000 tournament.

Molo's Restaurant (Sikatuna Village)
"Sa Molo's para maiba!"

Araguy! In that short a span since my last entry, we've eaten at Molo's twice already! Yumayaman na sila dahil sa amin at kahit panay kagaguhan isulat namin sa "survey" nila, we're still welcomed with smiles and politeness. Yub yub!

From pork sisig to Garr's salad(?!?), the menu's well worth the try!

Ano to plugging?

Lotsa Pizza - Teacher's Village (Quezon City)
Four extra large pizzas gorged to the last tomato sauce by six ravenous gits! Ganyan kami kumain ng pizza dun. Parang walang tomorrow (*insert konyo accent*). And special customer treatment for us dahil pag dumadating kami, binibitbit namin yung mga lamesa at upuan sa labas! Gusto namin under the moon kami mag pizza. Walang angal. Kustomers is all ways rightful! The more the many-erer!

Last encounter was last Saturday after our UP-CFA session.

Starbucks-Adriatico (Malate)
I was with Pinsan Idol and Pouty, reminscin the latter's highschool bouts in Saint Jo. Tambay magdamag (literally) na parang wala akong pasok kinaumagahan. Actually, umaga na nun. Hehe. Totoo yun eh noh? When you're with someone special even time itself flitters in a slow-mo. Hee hee. Oks lang, sulit yan. Walang pakelaman.

Lytot Sungit, Renz Verano, Bubay

Ang kyut ng "kutilya" nya. Pramis.

Convergys Commonwealth
Hours before our regular Sunday gunbang games, I asked Garrkid to make a sidetrip to Convergys so we could have our breakfast at Starbucks AND syempre, meet up with the Batgurl. She was about to leave then (that was way past her regular work hours) when we arrived. Swerte ko, inabot ko pa. She's so cute in her aviator. I was half-distracted to what I was talking about. Funny how my lips seemed to lock in "speak" mode while the heart simply gazed at her and cherished the short time we would be together. Who knows when will be the next time again, that's why. Haha. Ang tae talaga.

Camp Masada (San Mateo, Rizal)
Two Sundays without airsoft could be "withdrawal syndrome"-inducing so last Sunday we braved the EDSA traffic despite preparations for the People Power anniversary celebration and hit it to Team Apocalypse's battlefield - Camp Masada!

Teams present were RTAC and BATAS which, I have to admit, were not that bad players themselves. I've seen worse! Frankly, though, I've had my fair shares of habitual unattentiveness during the games since Miss Haley's thoughts still lingered on my poor mushy mind. Haha. Taeng tae.

But of course! That measly shack of shacks... hallowed to us truest henchmen of the Ork gods, imbued with the One True Beverage - da COX (Coke... hehe)!!

In short, tambayan namin.

Have to remind myself to draw more art on our logbook. The more the merrierer! Nuff said.

Fortress Hobby Store (Virramall, Greenhills)
It was nice to hangout here since c'mon, it's Greenhills, man. You can't go wrong with a place that's half-filled with sassy places to relax and the other half teeming with bargain stuffs to shop!

Arvin, a fella Shak buddy, manages a friend's business here and most of the guys drop by from time to time so it's a good place to chill. Bought me this vintage cap that I got for cheaps!

Hehe.

Alpha Grandview Condo (Malate)
Tita 9's place. The last time I was there was when I have to wait for my bro who attended his JS Prom. Around the area lang kasi siya nag-aaral. There's this nice view of Manila Bay and the Baywalk strip from their unit. Galing.

The Residencia Condo (Greenbelt)
Romydoo's office. Here's where we do our regular weekday geek games. We usually held it on Tuesdays but last week we met on a Wednesday. It was a nice break from all the weekday's worth of work stress, I say.

Write Your Heart

I've always been more of an eloquent "writer" than an articulate "speaker".

What I can't say, I write.
What I feel and can barely express, I write.
What I think should honestly be spoken, I timidly write instead.

However, the preference to write than mustering courage to speak has its ups and downs. And more likely than not, the "downs" could prove to be an outright disappointment. There's this instant impersonal impression on reading a letter from somebody compared to having that somebody actually conversing with you. The latter being a more bilateral and sincere engagement.

On the other hand, a written message is lasting... a visible, tangible testament of expression. A piece of paper with some scribbles in it looks lackluster but it's a writer's job to change this perception by exuding his intended feelings through what is to be read out of it. Capture this and a letter could be a timeless piece no spoken message could match!

But let's face it, there's skill involved right there. Everyone can speak but not all of them can write. How much more to write effectively as to convey sensibly what they feel?

Hear my case. I've been writing quite a LOT for someone my age... novels, short stories, articles, backstories, poems, fan fictions, or actually anything I feel like pondering when inspiration strikes. But believe me when I say I suck big time when writing what I feel. No matter how others would compliment me on my works of "based-on-experience" nature, I still have this dissatisfaction in me that I wasn't able to convey enough what my true feelings intended to.

Not, until today.

In my times, I've had my fair share of writing to those I held dear. But frankly, most of my letters have been a considerable case of "writing to impress" or "writing to persuade"... those that I put more thought into than writing what my feelings dictated.

This morning, before I started another grueling day at work, I put my inhibited thoughts aside and just for another rare instance like now, grabbed my pen to write something that my feelings wanted me to... to actually listen to what my heart wished to express (if bluntly at that).

For someone special.

To like what was written than to what was spoken.

Bahala na si Batman.

Happy Valentine's Day everyone!

It's weird how it feels to be cheesy on a V-day when just last year at this exact date I was cursing this overrated fuss. Check mo pa yung last Feb 14 post ko. Haha!

Mami's Boy, This Way

Aminado akong momma's boy ako. So for this special day, lemme greet the most bestest Mom in the whole-wide Universe!!!

Happy Birthday Mommy!!!

Stay groovy and have many more "apo" to come! *ngiti*

Sinong mag-aakalang 70 siya?? Wala! Wala di ba!!! Kasi hindi pa naman talaga. Hehe. Kabog lahat!

Mommy Groovy and the Wonder Twins

*****

Last Sunday nanood kami nila Tita 9, Idol Pinsan, at Batgurl ng "Night at the Museum". Last full show. Nag airsoft ako that morning then afterwards kumain with the tropa sa Molo's sa Kamias (para daw "maiba"... doh) tas tamang text si Idol na manonood pala sila ng sine. Kaya ayun, as usual, ninja moves na naman ako... karipas North to South in thirty minutes. Hehe.

Worth it naman. Andun si Lyness e. Kakamiss sya.

Nawawala yung mata. Hehe.

Walang kinalaman sa kwento. Gusto ko lang ilagay.
Peborit kong pic namin yan. Cute nya noh.

Para sa akin kasi, you could (AND you should) always express love and caring anytime, anyday. Pero kasi this time, feel ko na this someone's worth to spend Valentine's with. Ewan ko ba. Di ko rin alam pano explain pero diko na kasi iniisip muna yan ngayon, parang basta gusto ko mag spend with someone special this V-day and kung hindi lang siya then iL just push through with the day as normal. Haaay buhay.

"Night at the Museum"
Spoiler Alert! Spoiler Alert! Spoiler Alert!

Living a miserable bum life, Larry (Ben Stiller) decided to try job hunting yet again after being sacked several times in the past. His ex-wife and only kid were starting to lose hope on him when finally, Larry was able to get a job as a nightguard on a local museum. As he was about to discover on his first night, the entire museum's collection of wax figures and preserved animals turns alive at night due to a mysterious Egyptian tablet moved into the museum during the 50's.

In a twist of event, this tablet became the same source of Larry's predicament as the trio of senior guards of the museum (who also hired him as nightguard) plotted to steal it. In a daring move inspired by Teddy Roosevelt (Robin Williams) himself, Larry rallied all the museum's living "displays" to foil the criminal scheme.

The movie's a good mix of an interesting plotline and hilarious antics. The pacing of funny scenes were evenly distributed along the flow of the movie, just enough to keep your attention glued while enjoying the story. I personally recommend it for a Sunday, "family day" viewing as it presented familial values that even your "movie-hating" cranky granny would nod in approval.

The casts were not bad either. C'mon, it's Robin Williams, Owen Wilson, and Ben Stiller! They're not bad comedians on their own. Although, I admit I may not be much of a fan of the latter two, getting all of em on this collaboration proved worth the effort.

The movie left me wanting for more wacky "happenings" to come out on another one of Larry's night duties. He only spent some three (or four?) nights inside the mysterious museum along the course of the film and because the story was fast-paced, it seemed to me that the museum scenes have been limited somehow when they could as easily "amaze" us some more by tossing another night or two worth of museum scenes in it. In short, I dunno if it's just me enjoying the queer stuffs inside the museum or it's really "bitin".

To sum up, I give it eight gulamans for the innovativeness of the storyline. I've had a good laugh watching it but that's all to expect from it.

Haha!
