Badminton Monday

Ang hirap kalaban ng pressure. We just needed one win out of three games but the momentum was on our opponent and decimated us with power smashes, three to zero. Araykupo!

My last and only match that night was with Jovic, against Yuki the Giant and Mike. We lose... 21 - 8, my first and worst defeat on our company's badminton fest. This dropped our team to the second spot with only a match difference from the champs.

Congrats Violet Team! Ang ganda ng kulay nyo! Hehe.

Gilligan Tuesday
Oh (that's her name... trust me), a Thai friend from Hewlett Packard-Thailand, was sent here to Manila for a work engagement. The Justice League-HP tropa planned a night out with her but she was off with her officemates on a karaoke bar in Greenbelt.

Last summer when I was in OZ-Land (winter sa kanila), I was also able to meet up with her in Sydney. She was, again, sent there to supervise something in HP-Sydney. I've known her waaaaaay back in my early years in HP-P&G as she was supervising the IT support projects in Thai and Vietnam based Procter & Gamble plants while I do the monitoring for the entire Asia Pacific's electronic software distribution. Kala ko pa nga dati lalaki siya. Her real name's Pechjarin kasi and hindi ko na lang susubukan pang maitama ang spelling and/or pronunciation ng surname nya. Trust me. Magulo pa sa buhok ni Michael Jackson nung hindi pa siya alien.

Dahil nagkatamaran nang sumunod kela Oh, tumambay na lang kami sa walang kamatayang Gilligan's (sumasaludo na lahat ng crew kela Mayor Jzent at Man dahil sa dalas nila dito). The Flash and the Green Lantern were missing-in-action for God-knows-why. Oh planned to meet us Saturday night before she fly back to Bangkok.

Attendance: Mayor Jzent, Super Man, Dee Dee, Obi Doo, Kid Starstruck (laglag ka Wacha! nasirang Wacha ka na! ikaw din Danilo! haha)

Grub: chicken in gravy sauce, sinigang na biik, kinulayang sari saring gulay, malamig na tsaa, serbesang magaan, krispy pata con cholesterol


Workshop Wednesday
I should be going out with Curly yesterday to check out Pao Valenciano's band in 6Underground here in Makati. Unfortunately, some personal reasons dictated otherwise. Next time na lang, dude. Pag naintindihan nya nang walang malisya! Hahaha.

Kulot was a loooong time tropa. Known her since she was still in her wee college days in Pampanga. We've worked on the same building (Rob Summit) for about two (or three?) years... me in HP, her in Sykes... but we rarely had crossed paths there. Big world!

So I just headed home and painted my miniatures, the geek I am! I was endeared lately on touching up this single Space Marine fig that cute na cute na Ly painted for me. Maybe because I'm missing her... maybe because... ahuhuy! Hehe, taeng inlab. It's nearly done (highlighting colors and watered down gloss na lang yata) and for the record, that was the first regular trooper that I spent much time to masterclass. Kasi, I normally do the more intricate works on special models and particular vehicles only. But this single fig will be special to me... perhaps forever... or should I say, hopefully forever?

I'm just waiting for the typhoon now. Bowling games for our sportsfest was rescheduled for next week. Thanks sa lahat ng tumambay sa tindahan... balikan ko kayong lahat next week. Basketful of Brags

On snakes...
Beat it Crikey! I just exterminated a snake this morning!

Around 4:00am kanina, I jolted out of sleep because of this loud crash coming from our kitchen. As usual, sa sala ako natutulog. Walang pakelaman ng trip, our sala is my room. Bihisan ko lang yung totoong kwarto ko sa taas. I quickly checked the premise to see my mom peeking out the window. Akala namin may magnanakaw lang or something sa likod bahay so I rushed to investigate, ready for action ala Robin Padilla if ever. Naks.

After ascertaining that it wasn't what we've expected, we started to turn back to our sleeps but then mommy, who went on first while I still inspect the area, returned with a pale look, whispering, "May ahas... dali". I then hurried to see where it was. Behind our ref! The source of the loud noise earlier was a container the blasted reptile was able to topple down. It was a good three feet or so, head's bobbing and all!

The rest of our conversations were in whispers since the snake looked like it was feeling our reactions. I told my mom to call the soldiers stationed at the gates for assistance (we live on a military base), but she was too petrified to move and I have to act quickly if I hope to catch it before it slither elsewhere inside the house!

Running on our backyard, I hastily searched for any weapons I could use to subdue the reptile! Reptiles! Kahit kelan, di ko nagustuhan yang mga yan... palaka, ahas, butiki, dinosaur! Pre-preho lang silang yuck sakin. Ipis at gagamba sanay ako dyan at kahit ano pang insekto... pero reptiles... aruydyoskopo! First thing I grabbed was our rusted spade and a clothesline pole. "Pwede na 'to!"

I strode back inside the kitchen and settled on top of the kitchen counter for a better vantage. The thing was coiled behind the ref, so I just played the patient predator. I was hoping to pin its head with my spade but the spade's tip is blunt that I have to make sure that I should strike it with the sharp part or risk it getting away. Alas, it jutted its head out enough for me to land an unerring blow. Trapped on the sharp edge (luckily) of the spade, I pommeled its head with the pole in my other hand. It flailed wildly before yielding, then I chopped off its head for good measures.

The comic relief was when I told mommy, "Dali Mi, kunin mo phone ko tas picture mo ko." Haha. Sabay posing! Poor thing. I was still trembling after the whole ordeal. Kawawa naman pero ahas is ahas. We can't just let it off unscathed after roaming the house.

Di naman first time ito. Sa probinsya, thrice na din kami ni Daddy nakapatay ng ahas sa loob ng bahay. Tas nanghuhuli pa kami ng bangkalang (gecko) ng mga "kalaro" ko noon. Syemps, kuwari matapang. Ayoko matuksong "Randell duwag, Randell duwag!". Haha. Yae nang matuksong "tulo uhog" wag lang duwag. Ala eh, may pride ata ire! Haha.

On badminton matches...
Last Monday was the second round of badminton matches for our sportsfest. I played two mixed doubles matches and won both (first, with Ai then with Chris), stretching our team streak to 6 wins and no lose! Astig. This coming Monday, we will hold the final rounds, still in Power Smash - Pasong Tamo. We just have to win one more match and could even afford to ignore the remaining two, but still emerge as the champs!

Last night, I was able to literally boost my team's standing to third spot. Giving us a slot to compete for the finals next week! Bowling was at the Makati Sports Complex. Tatlong team lang kasi ang pinili to vie for the top spot.

Doesn't it makes you delightedly squirmy inside when you see someone you love feel good? If you do, hindi lang pala ako ang tae mainlab. Hahaha.

Anyway, I was in Tita 9's condo last Sunday to watch the Pacquiao-Morales match. I was disappointed that as early as around one o'clock +, there were a lot of text to me that Pacman already won on the third round. I plan on deliberately not wanting to hear the results so I could enjoy the delayed telecast but I guess it really wasn't possible... it was all over my inbox, the radio stations, the tv stations, sa taxi! Awk!

Bitin talaga yung laban. I knew that Morales will not perform well. Imagine, it was like a 30 pound drop from his previous 160+ pound physique. That's some serious shit no matter how scientific his program was. He's a boxer, not some ordinary people who could do medical wonders and have the luxury to rest. Morales has to keep practicing to prepare for the match on top of his weight loss activites. At kitang kita yung epekto sa kanya. He was obviously not on tip top shape the time I laid eyes on him, mas lalo na nung nag start yung suntukan.

Still, mabuhay ka Manny! That's another Philippine pride put on international history. Sana lang you'll have wits enough not to involve yourself on the impending Manila elections as marionette for some power-starved trapo. There's a hell LOT of ways to help your kababayan without involving on dirty politicizing. Ipagpa-ubaya mo na lang kay Borgy. *insert sarcasm tag*

"Politics" and "circus" are fast devolving to synonimity. Tangena, para na naman akong AM radio. Hahaha.

On a brighter side, Lysette was there too last Sunday. Gave her a rose and I feel good inside. I really am falling for the girl. Sana happy siya sa gesture ko towards her. I may not talk a lot about how I feel but ganun talaga ko ka-tae e if I'm serious with my feelings. If she only knew. *sigh*

I also told em iL be bringing my miniatures and painting kits so they could help me with my works. She, Tita 9, and my cousin all painted for me. It was cool to see them, especially her, enjoying the thing I half-consider as "for geeks". Hahaha. She's so cute, ang cool cool pa.

Back sa condo last Sunday... grubs were two boxes pizza and spaghetti... sarap ng cheese nung Volcano ng Pizza Hut. We watched "Butterfly Effect 2" on DVD but din't finish it. I, myself, wasn't that interested. Parang walang dating. I set another highscore on idol pinsan's Text Twist (level 15, 70K+ points) before the day ends. Aina also edited my pics on Photoshop and outlined em on the Starwars Episode One movie poster. Ang astig. I made it my primary pic on Friendster. All star cast!

The bowling games were tough last night.

Our group (Black Team) ended up 4th out of six teams. While my personal score of 100 and 94 in two respective rounds put me to the 9th position out of almost 30 players. See, most of us are beginners after all. Those were pretty impressive scores but not "that" impressive on competitive levels. Good clean fun lang itong league namin.

There will be two more rounds next Thursday before we on the Sports Committee will pick the top three teams who will compete to the finals. May time pa kami humabol *grins*

Sportsfest Update

Last Monday, we formally started our first ever sportsfest here in the office. It will be a two-month long tourney of badminton and bowling for the thirty plus employees who signed up for the activity. Personally, I really wasn't that interested in playing badminton and in fact as a member of the office's Sports Committee, I was the one who suggested to have a bowling tourney just so I can have something to oppose the almost unanimous inclination to play badminton. Fortunately, both badminton and bowling tournies were approved by our financial managers, so it was that every Monday since then we will be holding badminton matches and the Thursdays thereafter will be bowling nights!

Not wanting to be a spoilsport, I enlisted anyway for the badminton games and actually won my first match last Monday. Our team hit it to the top place as of the last matches' results. We on the committee decided that the team colors for the badminton will be of feminine nature while on bowling it will be masculine colors... so ayun, Pink Team ako sa badminton. Malas lang. On bowling, I'm on the Black Team. Our first game will be later tonight at the Makati Sports Complex. My last bowling game was like years ago so hopefully I could fare well despite that.

The badminton games on the other hand were held on Power Smash, Pasong Tamo Extension. Paolo Santos was there last Monday, playing too.

Actually, I was disappointed by the score. Sa totoo lang, geek ako. Totoo nyan, to compensate with these stuffs, I also have my "laid down Jim" side of trippings which are almost guilty pleasures for me so I do not discuss much: I paint miniatures, I do creative writing (poetry and prose), I read uber sci-fi and fantasy texts, I spend grisly hours ogling at a PC doing games or just surfing the heck outta my spare time (if ever I got the luxury of, which is very very very rare), I used to have a reputation as a "Walking-Know-All" because I know a score of general information (which is because I swamped myself reading books when I was young), I did a LOT of "weird/geeky/nerdy" (whatever else you would want to call it) hobby games... from Magic: The Gathering card game to Tamiya 4WD racing and even wrote for a local hobby magazine for a year, and the list goes on.

Despite all of this, I'm quite comfortable that my lifestyle's a bit more flexible and my view of things more broader. Besides, I'd rather be a geek than an airhead Prince Charming slash Knight in Shining Armour archetype whose blank romantics were rivaled only by his unsatiable quest to make his appearance... uhm well... shiny!

Badminton Monday

Ang hirap kalaban ng pressure. We just needed one win out of three games but the momentum was on our opponent and decimated us with power smashes, three to zero. Araykupo!

My last and only match that night was with Jovic, against Yuki the Giant and Mike. We lose... 21 - 8, my first and worst defeat on our company's badminton fest. This dropped our team to the second spot with only a match difference from the champs.

Gilligan Tuesday
Oh (that's her name... trust me), a Thai friend from Hewlett Packard-Thailand, was sent here to Manila for a work engagement. The Justice League-HP tropa planned a night out with her but she was off with her officemates on a karaoke bar in Greenbelt.

Last summer when I was in OZ-Land (winter sa kanila), I was also able to meet up with her in Sydney. She was, again, sent there to supervise something in HP-Sydney. I've known her waaaaaay back in my early years in HP-P&G as she was supervising the IT support projects in Thai and Vietnam based Procter & Gamble plants while I do the monitoring for the entire Asia Pacific's electronic software distribution. Kala ko pa nga dati lalaki siya. Her real name's Pechjarin kasi and hindi ko na lang susubukan pang maitama ang spelling and/or pronunciation ng surname nya. Trust me. Magulo pa sa buhok ni Michael Jackson nung hindi pa siya alien.

Dahil nagkatamaran nang sumunod kela Oh, tumambay na lang kami sa walang kamatayang Gilligan's (sumasaludo na lahat ng crew kela Mayor Jzent at Man dahil sa dalas nila dito). The Flash and the Green Lantern were missing-in-action for God-knows-why. Oh planned to meet us Saturday night before she fly back to Bangkok.

Workshop Wednesday
I should be going out with Curly yesterday to check out Pao Valenciano's band in 6Underground here in Makati. Unfortunately, some personal reasons dictated otherwise. Next time na lang, dude. Pag naintindihan nya nang walang malisya! Hahaha.

Kulot was a loooong time tropa. Known her since she was still in her wee college days in Pampanga. We've worked on the same building (Rob Summit) for about two (or three?) years... me in HP, her in Sykes... but we rarely had crossed paths there. Big world!

So I just headed home and painted my miniatures, the geek I am! I was endeared lately on touching up this single Space Marine fig that cute na cute na Ly painted for me. Maybe because I'm missing her... maybe because... ahuhuy! Hehe, taeng inlab. It's nearly done (highlighting colors and watered down gloss na lang yata) and for the record, that was the first regular trooper that I spent much time to masterclass. Kasi, I normally do the more intricate works on special models and particular vehicles only. But this single fig will be special to me... perhaps forever... or should I say, hopefully forever?

Basketful of Brags

On snakes...
Beat it Crikey! I just exterminated a snake this morning!

Around 4:00am kanina, I jolted out of sleep because of this loud crash coming from our kitchen. As usual, sa sala ako natutulog. Walang pakelaman ng trip, our sala is my room. Bihisan ko lang yung totoong kwarto ko sa taas. I quickly checked the premise to see my mom peeking out the window. Akala namin may magnanakaw lang or something sa likod bahay so I rushed to investigate, ready for action ala Robin Padilla if ever. Naks.

After ascertaining that it wasn't what we've expected, we started to turn back to our sleeps but then mommy, who went on first while I still inspect the area, returned with a pale look, whispering, "May ahas... dali". I then hurried to see where it was. Behind our ref! The source of the loud noise earlier was a container the blasted reptile was able to topple down. It was a good three feet or so, head's bobbing and all!

The rest of our conversations were in whispers since the snake looked like it was feeling our reactions. I told my mom to call the soldiers stationed at the gates for assistance (we live on a military base), but she was too petrified to move and I have to act quickly if I hope to catch it before it slither elsewhere inside the house!

Running on our backyard, I hastily searched for any weapons I could use to subdue the reptile! Reptiles! Kahit kelan, di ko nagustuhan yang mga yan... palaka, ahas, butiki, dinosaur! Pre-preho lang silang yuck sakin. Ipis at gagamba sanay ako dyan at kahit ano pang insekto... pero reptiles... aruydyoskopo! First thing I grabbed was our rusted spade and a clothesline pole. "Pwede na 'to!"

I strode back inside the kitchen and settled on top of the kitchen counter for a better vantage. The thing was coiled behind the ref, so I just played the patient predator. I was hoping to pin its head with my spade but the spade's tip is blunt that I have to make sure that I should strike it with the sharp part or risk it getting away. Alas, it jutted its head out enough for me to land an unerring blow. Trapped on the sharp edge (luckily) of the spade, I pommeled its head with the pole in my other hand. It flailed wildly before yielding, then I chopped off its head for good measures.

The comic relief was when I told mommy, "Dali Mi, kunin mo phone ko tas picture mo ko." Haha. Sabay posing! Poor thing. I was still trembling after the whole ordeal. Kawawa naman pero ahas is ahas. We can't just let it off unscathed after roaming the house.

Di naman first time ito. Sa probinsya, thrice na din kami ni Daddy nakapatay ng ahas sa loob ng bahay. Tas nanghuhuli pa kami ng bangkalang (gecko) ng mga "kalaro" ko noon. Syemps, kuwari matapang. Ayoko matuksong "Randell duwag, Randell duwag!". Haha. Yae nang matuksong "tulo uhog" wag lang duwag. Ala eh, may pride ata ire! Haha.

On badminton matches...
Last Monday was the second round of badminton matches for our sportsfest. I played two mixed doubles matches and won both (first, with Ai then with Chris), stretching our team streak to 6 wins and no lose! Astig. This coming Monday, we will hold the final rounds, still in Power Smash - Pasong Tamo. We just have to win one more match and could even afford to ignore the remaining two, but still emerge as the champs!

Last night, I was able to literally boost my team's standing to third spot. Giving us a slot to compete for the finals next week! Bowling was at the Makati Sports Complex. Tatlong team lang kasi ang pinili to vie for the top spot.

Doesn't it makes you delightedly squirmy inside when you see someone you love feel good? If you do, hindi lang pala ako ang tae mainlab. Hahaha.

Anyway, I was in Tita 9's condo last Sunday to watch the Pacquiao-Morales match. I was disappointed that as early as around one o'clock +, there were a lot of text to me that Pacman already won on the third round. I plan on deliberately not wanting to hear the results so I could enjoy the delayed telecast but I guess it really wasn't possible... it was all over my inbox, the radio stations, the tv stations, sa taxi! Awk!

Bitin talaga yung laban. I knew that Morales will not perform well. Imagine, it was like a 30 pound drop from his previous 160+ pound physique. That's some serious shit no matter how scientific his program was. He's a boxer, not some ordinary people who could do medical wonders and have the luxury to rest. Morales has to keep practicing to prepare for the match on top of his weight loss activites. At kitang kita yung epekto sa kanya. He was obviously not on tip top shape the time I laid eyes on him, mas lalo na nung nag start yung suntukan.

Still, mabuhay ka Manny! That's another Philippine pride put on international history. Sana lang you'll have wits enough not to involve yourself on the impending Manila elections as marionette for some power-starved trapo. There's a hell LOT of ways to help your kababayan without involving on dirty politicizing. Ipagpa-ubaya mo na lang kay Borgy. *insert sarcasm tag*

On a brighter side, Lysette was there too last Sunday. Gave her a rose and I feel good inside. I really am falling for the girl. Sana happy siya sa gesture ko towards her. I may not talk a lot about how I feel but ganun talaga ko ka-tae e if I'm serious with my feelings. If she only knew. *sigh*

I also told em iL be bringing my miniatures and painting kits so they could help me with my works. She, Tita 9, and my cousin all painted for me. It was cool to see them, especially her, enjoying the thing I half-consider as "for geeks". Hahaha. She's so cute, ang cool cool pa.

Back sa condo last Sunday... grubs were two boxes pizza and spaghetti... sarap ng cheese nung Volcano ng Pizza Hut. We watched "Butterfly Effect 2" on DVD but din't finish it. I, myself, wasn't that interested. Parang walang dating. I set another highscore on idol pinsan's Text Twist (level 15, 70K+ points) before the day ends. Aina also edited my pics on Photoshop and outlined em on the Starwars Episode One movie poster. Ang astig. I made it my primary pic on Friendster. All star cast!

The bowling games were tough last night.

Our group (Black Team) ended up 4th out of six teams. While my personal score of 100 and 94 in two respective rounds put me to the 9th position out of almost 30 players. See, most of us are beginners after all. Those were pretty impressive scores but not "that" impressive on competitive levels. Good clean fun lang itong league namin.

There will be two more rounds next Thursday before we on the Sports Committee will pick the top three teams who will compete to the finals. May time pa kami humabol *grins*

Sportsfest Update

Last Monday, we formally started our first ever sportsfest here in the office. It will be a two-month long tourney of badminton and bowling for the thirty plus employees who signed up for the activity. Personally, I really wasn't that interested in playing badminton and in fact as a member of the office's Sports Committee, I was the one who suggested to have a bowling tourney just so I can have something to oppose the almost unanimous inclination to play badminton. Fortunately, both badminton and bowling tournies were approved by our financial managers, so it was that every Monday since then we will be holding badminton matches and the Thursdays thereafter will be bowling nights!

Not wanting to be a spoilsport, I enlisted anyway for the badminton games and actually won my first match last Monday. Our team hit it to the top place as of the last matches' results. We on the committee decided that the team colors for the badminton will be of feminine nature while on bowling it will be masculine colors... so ayun, Pink Team ako sa badminton. Malas lang. On bowling, I'm on the Black Team. Our first game will be later tonight at the Makati Sports Complex. My last bowling game was like years ago so hopefully I could fare well despite that.

The badminton games on the other hand were held on Power Smash, Pasong Tamo Extension. Paolo Santos was there last Monday, playing too.

Actually, I was disappointed by the score. Sa totoo lang, geek ako. Di lang halata dahil panay pang macho jock ego ang more evident trippings ko: baril barilan, tong its, rak en rol, lakwatsa, basketbol at iba pang pawis-sports. Droga, babae't alak na lang yata ang kulang at living embodiment na ko ng perpektong barakong tambay. Yung mga ginagampanan nila Ace Vergel at John Regala noong araw (panahon pa ng mga dinosaurs).

Totoo nyan, to compensate with these stuffs, I also have my "laid down Jim" side of trippings which are almost guilty pleasures for me so I do not discuss much: I paint miniatures, I do creative writing (poetry and prose), I read uber sci-fi and fantasy texts, I spend grisly hours ogling at a PC doing games or just surfing the heck outta my spare time (if ever I got the luxury of, which is very very very rare), I used to have a reputation as a "Walking-Know-All" because I know a score of general information (which is because I swamped myself reading books when I was young), I did a LOT of "weird/geeky/nerdy" (whatever else you would want to call it) hobby games... from Magic: The Gathering card game to Tamiya 4WD racing and even wrote for a local hobby magazine for a year, and the list goes on.

Despite all of this, I'm quite comfortable that my lifestyle's a bit more flexible and my view of things more broader. Besides, I'd rather be a geek than an airhead Prince Charming slash Knight in Shining Armour archetype whose blank romantics were rivaled only by his unsatiable quest to make his appearance... uhm well... shiny!
