SOCCEROOS ROOOOOCKS!!! REFEREE SUUUUCKS!!!

As usual, the gang went this morning to Star City Casino to watch Team Australia in action against one of the league topdogs Team Italia. 12:30 midnight pa lang ang haba na ng pila towards the casino entrance, unlike the previous match against Croatia.

Quick facts muna: Harry Kewell did not play because of an injury. Guus Hiddink, the Socceroo's Dutch coach, had led Team Korea on the last World Cup to win against Team Italy. I bet 10 bucks for Team Australia with odds of 1.45, meaning my 10 could win 45. Sports betting is legal here. Pero walang pa-"Ending".

Before the 1am kickoff, we were able to secure a nice spot on a carpeted floor right in front of one of the casino's huge flatscreens. Fans from all over Sydney, sobber or not, huddled around on every screens of the premise... different races, all in the gold and green colors of FEU... este Team Australia. Hehe.

The game went pretty well with the Socceroos exhibiting their defensive prowess. I would really bet for a draw since I have a good hunch that Italia can never penetrate the OZ defense, but where's the "heart" on it? So ye, I kinda pushed my luck and bet for the team to win. That's the spirit!

Still, as I've expected, the game went through with drawish tendency. The first half ended nil all, but it was not a bad day for Aussie. They have their share of ball domination and was able to shake the Italian defensive for sometime.

Second half proceeded with the same drawish scenario until a player from Italy got a red card, giving the Aussies one man advantage against their opponent. The OZ's capitalized on this, totally dominating the whole second half until Italy sent in their lead striker Totti. On the last 5 or 6 minutes (doesn't really matter to me, basta patapos na yung game), one of the Italian player was able to penetrate inside the penalty box. On a daring move to save the ball, one of the Australian defender slide tackled for the ball and was able to parry it away succesfully. However, the Italian player, who seemed to be the best actor in the world too, fell by himself, implying that he was tripped by the tackling Socceroo. The stupid referee fell for the bullshit act and called for a penalty kick.

Totti took the penalty kick and ye, we all know how likely that will end up on a score. Pfft. Boooo! Hiss!! Referee bollocks!!

The Australians waited long to get a spot in the World Cup only to be ruined by a crappy referee. Intayin nila ang magiging anak ko... striker ng Team Pilipinas!! World Cup 2050!!!

Only lightning has no revenge!!! (Lintik lang ang walang ganti!!)

Take the Balls Off My Neck

After snowboarding the friggid landscape of the South, I can't seem to get enough death wish and joined a colleague for his weekly abseiling on the western mountain ranges of New South Wales.

They call it "abseling" here in Aussie. We call it "rappelling" in Phils. But most people everywhere might agree to call it "DANGER".

Not with AD, I reckon (and pray). This guy looks as if he has been doin it for ages. So with Cindy, Marvs, Dens, AD, and Yuki, we drove all the way to the dirt roads of the Blue Mountains area clinging to my regret that I should have taken a life insurance back in Manila. Hehehe.

I dunno what struck me lately that I was welcome to such pain-inducing endeavours: I'm playing airsoft in Manila; I snowboarded just last month; I got another piercing on my left ear just above my first one (OZ remembrance); and now, rappelling and climbing back.

First, we went to Anvil Rock and Winderoded Cave. These are just around the Blue Mountains too. The first is a cliff point that has a good view of the surrounding mountain ranges and ravines. The second spot is, as the name suggests, just a solid sandstone formation pockmarked by constant wind weathering. I think, going on these places were good preparations on psyching out ourselves on the heights we were challenging later that day. Kumbaga, enjoy the view and feel the sense of elevation muna dahil mamaya yan ang kalaban namin. Yay!

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Akala ko eto na huling kain ko...

Then we headed to the abseiling place. From where we parked, we hiked another kilometer and so through the woods to this training spot for beginners. It's a good 18-20 feet of rugged layers of rock and I tells ya, it's still effin scary. We took turns rapelling down with coaching from AD. I realized the scariest part was when you first hop off the ledge. This is where you'll ask yourself if you're still sane. Not looking below and talking to your friends while you descend helps a lot for starters, even when you'll realize that you can barely hear their voices because they're just effin far down below.

We also took turns on the belaying job at the landing spot. AD thought us how to. He's also belaying from the top so it's pretty safe on a technical persepective, no real anxiety on the process of abseiling per se. It's the matter of knowing you are jumping off a taaaall cliff that is bloody petrifying.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Obi was here...

After our sortee at the "small" cliff, we took our lunch ala picnic then walked some more meters to go to the staging area where the taller drop awaited us. Eto na, dito na kumatog mga tuhod ko. AD set up the system and one by one they all hopped off the edge. It all looked so easy from the starter cliff we've tried, but this one was just too high.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
That's Marvs. This is what we rappelled.

As I've expected, I was the last to rappel down (kaya wala akong picture of me abseiling down). I had a hard time convincing myself that I was no chikkin. Anyway, because of peer pressure, I eventually gave in despite my guts having a good fun of me dancing tango inside my belly. I suddenly became religious and summoned all the saints the FSC brothers introduced to me before hopping off the ledge. Hehehe. But yep, the experience was waaay cool, especially on this part where you'll be off the rockface and got nothing to step on. With it, the only way down was to hang suspended on air while rappelling. Here, the ropes will start turning and you'll be facing all those land formations and deep ravines surrounding you... taunting that you are 197ft off the ground and you can do nothing but scream. Until now, I think my balls were stuck on my neck because of this.

When I got to the bottom, I was so perspiring and hyped up that I can't even feel a pain from the scratch on my knee. It was the best release in my life... all I want then was to relish what I just did and stop my body from shaking. Hehe.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Atapang a-tao, hindi a-takbo!

Apparently, it was not the end of it. We have to climb all the way back up to our jump off spot to pack and head home. It was no way easy. It's still a good 35-ish degree climb... very steep and rocky, but after that rappel I think I can do everything and no climb's too high.

I say, I'm still afraid of heights but the experience made me more comfortable being on elevated edges.

Otokoto (Tis My Ride, Baby)

Too Fast Too Furious 3 - Tokyo Drift
Spoiler Alert! Spoiler Alert! Spoiler Alert!

The story revolved around Shawn and apparently his innate ability to attract racing challenges. After another one of his racing accidents, her mother was forced to sent him to his army dad in Japan.

In Tokyo, Shawn was introduced to another kind of street racing called the drift race. Despite efforts from his dad to keep him from racing, Shawn was able to befriend a rich gangster Han who introduced him to his underground works and trained him on drift racing. There's nothing really spectacular on the storyline, it's just that complications started when Han's partner in underground business and gangster leader DK (Drift King) started to lose big bucks with his dealings with Han. This, and that DK's hot girlfriend Neela is scoring some sparks with Shawn, infuriates the gangster leader more.

Towards the end of the movie, Han, on a wild car chase against DK, died. As expected, Shawn will eventually face off with DK on a drift race to settle the dispute once and for all. Syempre, good guy won.

Very very simple storyline. It's like watching a Pinoy action flick where you'll know most of the time what's goin to happen next (and that the cops will arrive late). I guess that's how it should be: crap the story out in favor of dazzling cars, hot chinky babes, wild rave parties, and heart-pounding races (baril at drugs na lang kulang... wehehehe)! Saying that, let's stop talking about the general plot of the film. It's simply unimaginitive. Done.

As Shawn quoted referring to his compulsion to cars (and tis my YM status yesterday), "I'm a guy, it's in my DNA."

What does the story lacked the film compensated with an array of drool-inducing show cars and race manuevers that drag race afficionados would swear to in their lifetime. Typical of the prequels, almost 70% of the movie involved car chases that if you're not too fond of will bore you to your seats. Saying that, iL generalize that the film's just for car enthusiasts. Done.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
My dream car, baby. Mitsubishi Evolution IX! And it's violet, baby. (Kelangan may "baby" lagi para "hip", baby!)

Casts' acting is not worth to ponder upon. It's a "car movie" and acting, no matter how crappy it is as the storyline, is almost as irrelevant really. Just some quick notes about em: Shawn's country accent is cool; Neela's supposed to be from Australia in the film. It din't show with her accent. And guess what, shame because in real life Nat Kelley's really from here in Sydney (hunting time hehe jokez); Reiko, the cute Japanese girl on Han's troupe (na kras na kras ko), used to portray Sailor Mars (na kras na kras ko nun bata pako) on a Sailor Moon movie in Tokyo; the fisherman that kept on commenting on Shawn's drifting skills was the original Drift King, Keiichi Tsuchiya and pioneer of drift racing back in the 70's; Vin Diesel's cameo appearance is an unnecessary advertising ploy. They'd rather add another cool looking car or a sexy vixen instead if they wanna boost audience... male audience that is. Let's face it, girlz and carz rarely meet so even with the muscle actor there, it'L not be enough to sway more of the female populace to watch.

Kaya ang lakas ng appeal ng "car girls" sa mga repapips e kasi bibihira. Personally, kras ko e yung cute na F3 racer si Gabby dela Merced. Idol.

Nothing to wrap up really. Apat na gulaman, and I think I'm still being kind. Saying that, if you're expecting to see something in the film other than chinky girlz, wicked carz, and dirt trickz, don't watch the movie. You will not see it. Done.

*****

Speaking of Miss Gabby dela Merced, gawd I just knew that she's the first female Asian racer for Asia Formula 3. Astiiiig. Mas naging kras ko pa sya lalo. And what rockz is that she's studying at UPCFA!!! Shak Boyz are you reading this?? Katambayan natin siya!! Wooot! Sana kilala siya ni Sir Mel. Papapirma ako sa jersey ko ng "FUCK OFF, OBI!!". Wooot! Anyone here who personally knows her? Hope she don't mind.

Alam Mong Niyebe ang Snow?

Nalaman ko lang yun dahil sa cartoons na "Sarah, Ang Munting Prinsesa". Si Becky kasi e.

Day 1
*We (Marvs, Yuki, Dens, Miss Dynes, and me) left St. Leonards for Oxford St. minutes past 3am.
*Met with the Tuesday Group (Jovic Moya, Drandreb Villesa, Billy Joe Crawford, Michael Locsin) in Oxford St... joke lang. Met with Tian, Eka, Bubung, and Chiqui there.
*Then both cars headed to Cabramatta to fetch Cindy. Around an hour drive.
*We left Cabramatta for Canberra afterwards. Two or so more hours.

Trivia: Canberra is to Australian Capital Territory as Sydney is to New South Wales.

*Stop over at Canberra for some of Cindy's chicken rolls. Yub yub!
*Arrival at Jindabyne. Three hours after. Estimated 300km of travel in all.

Interactivity: To know how far we travelled check this site -->
http://www.whereis.com/whereis/directions.do
In the "From" section, type St Leonards... State is NSW
In the "To" section, type Jindabyne... State is still NSW

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
View from above... hangkyut parang langgam!

*We got the rented gears and grub-stuffed (burger yub yub!) before heading to Smiggins for the snows. Thirty more minutes drive. Me and Tian was up for some boarding action while the rest contented themselves with skiing.
*There's not much snow in Smiggins so we moved to Mount Back Perisher, geared up, and charged the friggid slopes!!!

*We all took two hour lessons for our weapons of choice. My snowboarding instructor was a cute Aussie chick from Newcastle. Maybe I just wanted to spend time with her grabbing me off my aching butt whenever I fall but I suck bigtime at the first board runs. Some tropical dude in snowboards. What do you expect?

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Ayun siya, yung may bilog na pula.

Trivia: Mount Back Perisher is some 2014m from the base.

*I started at the Slow Area at the foot of the mountain.
*It snowed and dropped the temperature to minus eight Celsius before we eventually decided to go home. We arrived at the rented place around 7pm. The place is lovely! 10 beds, 4 rooms, 2, living rooms, 2 toilets, furnished, and importantly, warm!
*Grub of the night: pasta, fish and chips, Jim Beam! alak, apple cider, kanin, softdrinks.
*Goof off. Picture uploads (dinala ko laptop). Baraha time (the locals know how to play some Pinoy card games). Toma. World Cup!!!
*I slept in the couch watching football.

Day 2
*Grub of the Day: pasta soup, sausage, egg, tinapay, softdrinks.
*We passed by the skii rentals so that Miss Dynes could swap her skiis to toboggans.
*Rushed back to Perisher Valley. It was snowing hard the other day so today the snows were thicker PLUS they've opened the snow generator the whole day. Freakin cold!
*Marvs and Cindy took another skiing lesson. The rest just goofed around with their weapons of choice. I had some few runs with my snowboard on the Slow Area.
*Grub for Lunch: 9 piece chicken nuggets, beef burger, tubig.

*After lunch, I set off for more runs on the begginer slope. I can't feel my bloody cheeks! Good thing by mid afternoon the sun warmed the place up a bit. That's when I decided to take it to another level... I caught the lift up to peak height with Marvin. It was quite a sight up there. The full moon was up already and it was spectacularly huuuge down here. I dunno, maybe we're closer to the moon here than in Phils (that's IF there's no SMOG blanketing the nightsky).

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Kapayapaan.

*The trek downslope was reaaally cool! Marvs got this video of me somewhere halfway the trip down the mountain. At this point, I was pretty confident with my boarding skills already. I could will myself what direction to go and when to slow or go faster. Nakakangalay lang sa paa mag maintain ng balance so anytime na masakit na paa mo, no choice but to fall off in your arse. You can't just stop and stand in the midst of a steep drop.

*Picture gallore. Snow fights. Goof off. Chinita hunt. Hehe.
*After the day's fun, we headed back to the skii rentals to return all the gears we had. Drove back to home, next.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Violet beannie! Violet jumper! Di nyo lang kita, pati undies ko violet! Woot!

*Grub of the Night: Adobo!, steamed veggies, fish and chips, pasta soup, softdrinks.

*We got ourselves comfy to watch the next World Cup match when this gorgeous Dutch girl knocked on the door. She's from the neighboring unit and was asking if she could watch the football game... her hometown Netherlands versus Serbia were on schedule that day (They won). The Aussies she was with in her unit were watching rugby that's why she somehow have to look someplace to watch. She's such a football girl. I think it's cute how she has spoken all this Dutch term for the football rules and how lovely she pronounced em. Basta, she's a wonderful lady. Bad thing we weren't able to get photos of her. Masyado kaming enchanted to even think about it perhaps.

*I slept at the couch. As usual.

Day 3
*We headed back home and passed by the new Parliament House in Canberra along the way. Toured around the place. Got tons of pictures (wacky or not). Bugger everyone there who wanted peace and quiet bcuz we're just loud. Sang a "Happy Birthday" song to a picture of Queen Elizabeth II on a wall (Thanks Queen for the holiday!). Ate on a Thai resto.

*We made it just in time before the Australia versus Japan match started. Socceroos won three is to one!!! Suck it!!! Wooot! Bought me a yellow baseball cap from Quicksilver at the snowies just to support Team Australia's colors. Worth it. Woot!

Abominable Snow Monster

Bloody!

I just got news from the bigboss that iL be extended until maybe the 20th of July.

< *sarcasm* > Happiness! < /sarcasm >

Pramis.

Anyway, iL be snowboarding for the long weekend. We'll be goin off later around 3am. I'll prolly won't catch a sleep anymore since im'a watch the opening games for the World Cup. I was never a football fan but I guess our Friday football games were getting on me, plus the fact that anywhere I tune the TV there was football football football! Not that iL have much of a choice, there's only five channels to choose from. Wehehehe.

I learned that after several years, it was only now that Team Australia was able to clinch a spot in the World Cup again, so good luck socceroos! Basta ako Team England pa din... hehe. Nice thing, I was able to bring my Team England jersey with me. Im'a wave it high while snowboarding. Hope iL not be mauled down by diehard fanatics. Hah!

On the other hand, I just saw in the web that Dallas Mavs claimed the first victory against the Miami Heat for the NBA finals! Tweeeweeeet! Galing! Jason Terry lead the team that time. Too bad Finley called it off with them, he's the reason why I'm in for the Mavs. Good thing they kept Dirk. That giant's just unstopable. Go Mavericks!! Next game will be on the 11th... Miami Heat still visiting the Dallas homecourt.

Argh, I'm itching to play hoops already, but apparently Im'a kicking balls for a month more.

Ongapala... long weekend kasi birthday ng Reyna ng Inglatera sa Lunes at walang pasok. Yeba! Happy birthday Queenie!!! Mwah!

Dating Lalake Tatlo: Ang Huling Tumayo

X-Men 3: The Last Stand
Spoiler Alert! Spoiler Alert! Spoiler Alert!

The third installment of the film saw the ascension of Jean Grey as her powerful dark entity, Phoenix. Just as mankind discovered a cure to the mutant "disease", the war rages on between those who were against the cure (Magneto and his Brotherhood of Mutants) and those who have sworn allegiance to justice (Professor X and his X-Men). With the death of Cyclops and Professor Charles himself (both caused by Jean Grey), the X-Men were hardpressed to oppose the evil mutants which were bolstered by the presence of Phoenix. The rest of the story did not really expressed vital relevance to the whole picture so I'll jump to the final attempt to sack the laboratory in Alcatraz for the cure. This has been the climax where the face off between the warring factions decided the outcome of the whole ruckus. In the end, Wolverine was able to kill Phoenix while the rest of the team contained the evil mutant threat. The post resolution scenes shouted PART FOUR, when Magneto was able to start wearing off his anti-mutant shot and Dr. Moira implied Xavier's resurrection by calling the "consciousness-less" man.

I was disappointed how some of the adaptation from the komikbuks went, if there were any at all...

1. Phoenix and her more evil counterpart, the Dark Phoenix were avatars of fire. They were always signified as enveloped with thick searing tongues of flame. Human Torch of Fantastic Four comes to mind. The movie Phoenix was nowhere near exhibiting such display. All she did was fling debris all over the place. Bleuch.
2. The original Phoenix was a cosmic entity that found Jean Grey's body a viable host to its incredible power. In the movie, the Phoenix was nothing more than Jean Grey's darkside consciousness. I don't dig.
3. Professor Charles Xavier and Juggernaut are brothers. The movie Professor X didn't even recognize his brother Cain Marco when they met at the Grey's residence.

I guess it's just too taxing for the screenplay writers to come up with a solid storyline that incorporates events from the comicbooks. Still, they could have done better by inserting twists on the plot by merging it with relevant comicbook events than just simply highlighting the return of Phoenix. The whole narrative is just too lame and simple for me.

Also, major characters from the first two X-Men movies were absent. Noticeable of em all was Nightcrawler. That blue-skinned devil is just so cool that taking him off of X-Men 3 is just a major bummer. Sabretooth's not around anymore too. I didn't like how they portrayed him in X-Men 1 anyway. I wished Toad and his honchos were also present on this movie even if they're just in for cameos. At least with that, comics afficionados will have more mutants to recognize and get excited about.

I think it's crap when they let the young Shadowcat join em for the "last stand" in Alcatraz but didn't bring in the rest of the Academy's students or at least the more combat-trained ones. I mean, they know that they'll be bloody outnumbered by Magneto's Brotherhood, but wasn't it plain nuts when they still pushed through with the odds apparently against them?? I believe they should be wiser than that or maybe they simply just wanted to die. **Or maybe the director guaranteed them beforehand that they will win anyway so don't bother bringing in reinforcements**

I would really like to write more stuffs about the movie but it'll all just end up with me ranting more too so to save my energy from whining, I'd rather summarize that the film is only appreciable because of its awesome movie magics but scrap your expectations of an interesting plot outline. It will only disappoint you.

Random musings for the characters: Kittie Pryde is such a sweetie. Jean Grey looks like one of the current Aussie Big Brother housemates. Wolverine's attitude was well depicted. I liked how they made up the Beast's prosthetics. Angel's wings are effin cool. I don't dig how Storm was mauled down several times by a speed freak chick (Callisto) that should not be a match with her elemental prowess. Juggernaut's armors are lacking. Pyro's capabilities are mediocre for his stature as Magneto's lieutenant. Ian McKellen (Magneto) acted better here than in "Da Vinci Code". Mystique is a hottie. I think Anna Paquin (Rogue) is prettier in "Fly Away Home" than here. Patrick Stewart (Professor Xavier) is fit for the role. Kid Omega was a good guy in X-Men Evolution T.V. series.

Ice Ice Baby

You Are Iceman

You tried to live a normal life, but it just wasn't possible
A bit of a slacker, you rather tell jokes than cultivate your powers

Powers: turning self and others into ice, making ice weapons, becoming nearly invisible

I watched "X-Men 3: The Last Stand" last Tuesday. My review will follow soon, can't write anything now, really. I just came back from a football game, bloody Aussie games at the middle of noon! I can't even feel my fingers from the cold. But tis good really.

This blogthing assessment of me was somewhat true in a sense that I'd rather take life on a lighter view than sticking my butt off to improve myself to geekdom!! I believe I have the capabilities to have more in life (learn more, earn more, improve more, etc.) but I just don't feel like aiming for it. Funky thing is even without really aiming for anything, they just kept on coming!!

Thank you Lord God for the blessings. Very much appreciated by a sinner not worth of anything.

Hehe.

Done.
