Halo-Halo of the Day

Penge Ko Tikoy
I think this is somewhat late but Happy Chinese New Year to all our Chinoy brethren!

Jeff, one of my hobby friends, have already gave me a tikoy last Wednesday. Salamat dudes. Mabigat siya sa tiyan. =)

This year is the Year of the Fire Dog. Those who were a year younger than me falls into this category since I was born on the Year of the Roster which was the previous year's astral symbol.

What I want about most of our Chinese brothers here in the Philippines is their shared outlook to be enterprising. Most of them strive to be entrepreneurs in contrary to most Pinoys who were rather comfortable sitting on a corporate chair, awaiting orders from the boss.

Kung Hei Fat Choi!! Peng Hei Ti Koy!! hehe.

Beng Beng
For this Sunday's gunbang session, sa ibang site kami naglaro. We drove all the way to the mountain side area of Montalban, Rizal into this partly developed property called Timberland.

Amputik! The place was sooooo cooL. Terrains are composed of high grasslands, steep-climb low hills, forest caps, and even open mud flats. An airsoft player's paradise ika nga. Very different to the urban-green of Last Castle, Pasig.

The weather last Sunday was drizzly though kaya sobrang putik ng lupa. There were even sudden rainfalls along the day pero tuloy ang saya! For that day, I was able to amass four kills. Not bad for a place we and my mates of the Screaming BB's were not yet familiar.

Kakamiss nga lang si Urban-camo girl. They're most likely playing on Last Castle that day. The guys were a goof off though and we all had crazy fun. Pakita ko na lang pics when Jumping Johnny emailed em to me.

Nasunog yung terminal sa may trigger and I have to buy a new motor for it so ayun naka-kalas to the bones siya sa may Shakk. I was using a G36 rifle and a P90 (yung 3-3 sa Counter Strike yata). Humiram lang muna ako. My observation was that my gun's lighter and has a longer effective range than the G36 kaya na-miss ko siya.

Uncle Obi
I'm officially an uncle to my sister's daughters. Yep... may "s". They're twins! We have a twin gene as both my mum's and dad's side have twins on the family. Yun nga lang, nakuha ng sis ko yung twin gene namin when I so wanted twin sons for myself.

7 months pa lang sila. Premature sila, and still in incubators. SO kindly pray for my cute nieces.

Lord God, please watch over them always po.

On the other hand, Congrats to Badong and Cheng for their first kids! May gift na kayo for Lola Mommy on her birthday on the 7th. =)

Ang mga B.O.

Bon Voyage Bo!
I was in Blue Wave, Macapagal Highway last night nibbling pizza with my college best friends (the new shrimp-mango salad is a must-try!). We're having a despedida of sorts for Bo (Ramil), who'll be flying off to Toronto, Canada on the 3rd of February. Isang taon niya din hinintay yung opportunity... so good luck with it, bro! Sayang, he'll not be here on Valentine's Day. Valentine's Day kasi is also Tagaytay City's fiesta (or isn't it just the area around the Tagaytay rotonda??), and the barkada has this long-time tradition to spend time in Jay's house every fiesta. This year, malamang apat na lang kami sa tropa na makakapunta. Jay's place holds a lot of personal memories, and I know it's the same for the others too.

Anyway, see you in the future, Bo. I'll hop up there at the first sign of opportunity tas magtayo tayo ng basketball court sa kalsada para pang-international na yung basketball games natin. Hehe.

That'll keep him from homesickness, hopefully.

Speaking of Bob Ong! Segue way...

B.O.: Live in Halo-Halo!
BUMISITA SA BLOG KO SI BOB ONG!!! I'm not effin worthy to speak thy name!!!

Woooh!! Wooot!! Idol, tuloy lang! Tambay ka lang... sagot ko halo-halo mo!

Last Wednesday kasi may comment-notification ako from an anonymous blogger. Gento nakalagay:

Anonymous said...
Salamat po sa pagbabasa! =>

-BO

B.O.! Bob Ong, man... Bob Ong! Woooh!

Galing yan dito sa January 11 post ko:

http://boyhalohalo.blogspot.com/2006/01/humayo-ka-bayani-huwaran-ka.html

http://www.google.com/search?q=%22stainless%20longganisa%22&hl=en&lr=&start=30&sa=N

Nasa ikatlong result-entry ang blog ko. Basta astig.

O'rayt!

Welcome to the Suck!

Last Friday
I should have been off to play basketball with my former officemates sa HP. E ang kaso mo, 6pm ang start ng basketball and na-trapik ako that morning so mga past 10am nako nakarating ng office. So kelangan mga past 7pm pa ko makakauwi. Bummer. Instead of brooding over not being able to play with the guys, I contacted Jai Skizzy so we could watch Jarhead. While waiting for the movie to start, we went to a nearby arcade hall (yung arcade sa lobby ng Greenbelt cinema) and played this cooL shooting game ala Time Crisis. I forgot the game's name (ano nga ulit yun Jai?) but it was waaay astig!

Gusto ko mag gawa sana ng review for Jarhead but tinatamad ako. Kwela siya, and eye-opener to the rigors of a soldier's life. Aside from that, very minimal na yung action scenes.

Last Saturday
After a fly-by in the office for some weekend works, I went to UP with Gelo (who happened to love working on a weekday too... hehe) for the weekly IPMS build sessions. I was able to have a game of Warhammer 40K and Warhammer Fantasy while the boyz duke it out on a "better-than-tv" confab.

Image hosting by Photobucket

Other happenings:
*the boyz toyed with this Russian fur hat
*Arvin and the other Fred demonstrated some WWE stunts (in preparation for the WWE Raw Philippine Tour mania??)
*Gelo was gone for like 30mins for some fishball chompin'
*got my black balaclava from Emp... i need it for the Sunday wargames
*finally, i have my own jeweler's saw. this oh-so-precious modelling tool is used for chopping off metal miniatures without ruining much of the figure's details (basta mahalaga para sa hobby ko yan... yun lang yun)

After that, we headed to the Shakk where Gelo's box o' Pilsen was waiting to be chugged. While the boyz do their things, Me, Garrik, and Jason drove to Thomas Morato to buy stuffs for the next day's gunbang sessions. I bought a battery pack for my gun.

Back at the Shakk, we passed the night talking over a bag of Spanish bread and cans of beer.

Last Sunday
Another gunbangin' action.

I started the day high as I sacked two kills early on the first three rounds. My team-up with sniper John Liit was doing good. We were always able to sweep and cover one flank of the grounds just by doing our routine: me, advancing forward to scout for enemy presence and a good sniping vantage point while John stand cover... he'll then leap forward while I give cover, ready for sniping position again. Galing!

"This is my rifle. My rifle is nothing without me. I'm nothing without my rifle. I love my rifle."

Before lunchtime, I got a text from Bonita that Manny Pacquiao won on the 10th round via a TKO against Morales. So I want to allot this space to congratulate the Pacman! Keep up the good work dude!

Anyway, "girl-in-urban-camo" and her group was on our team for that day so I was able to kinda observe her "da moves". Not bad for a lady I must say. Cute nya talaga. I even had the chance to have a short chat with her while on the game.

Ako: (shouting to the others) may kalaban na tayo sa likod ha.
*Then a waft of perfume suddenly breezes by* (ambango! wearing perfume on a game is a no no though... you don't want to end up being scent-tracked)
Her: (appearing from a nearby cover) wala na "hit" na.
....insert more discussions here, then finally (after her, not giving up that there were really enemies hiding on the bushes)....
Ako: ok, ingat na lang dyan. Paki-cover naman ako.
....she rapid-fired behind me while I ran for the trench. =)

There's this instance too that I was able to have a short chitchat with her while walking towards the safe zone after a "game over".

Basta astig. Ganda points na din siguro na despite her being surrounded by guys in guns, she's still into the sports and up to the challenge. I heard Mica daw ang name niya. Mukhang rich kid nga lang... eek. Hindi naman mukhang spoiled brat, though.

Jai Skizzy and his maiden, Layla, together with his "Kapuso" officemates in GMA arrived late in the afternoon. I lend him my gun and gears for a round before we parted ways.

After the game, the boyz headed back to the Shakk to store the airsoft guns then we charged Galleria to watch Underworld Evolution. As much as I wanted to do a sort of film review, I can't... because I fell asleep on the middle of the movie. Hehe. Good thing I didn't miss Kate's flesh scene... haha. Kate for President!

Paalam Idol Baron
I was surprised when I heard the news but yep, Ka Ernie Baron passed away. I used to look up on him during his heydays as the Walking Encyclopedia, and even my lolo was always tuned to his radio program. Kaya for sure, he will be missed. Ka Ernie... kung walang knowledge, walang power! Buh-bye!

Yesterday
I got my HP jersey yesterday from Wacha. I like the retro design... the wavy trims are hallucinogenic. =)

Drink Moderately

Ang gara no?

Ok, game... segue way na...

Napag-usapan lang din naman ang pag-inom, here's one cocktail that will sure you guys would enjoy... lalo na pag medyo nagtitipid tayo. I got this mix from my Justice League tropang Dan and it's a great substitute for, what has been earning fame on the liquor department lately, choco-flavored spirits! Bailey's came to mind first. Oks to sa mga girls kasi they will not have to withstand the tang of hard-liquor but still feel the same effect of drinking one. Pang-girly talaga, so to speak.

Anyway, this concoction is actually a rhum coffee but since this has been the all-time favorite beverage during our condo days sa unit ni Dan the Flash, I'd rather call it the Flash Bang!

Flash Bang
by Bartender Obi

Ingredients:
2 bottles of Tanduay Rhum ("lapad" sa mga tambay)
1 small can of Alaska Evaporated Milk ("ebaporada" sa mga ina)
1 sachet of Great Taste Three-in-One Coffee (yun gang meron nang kape-creamer-gatas. narinig nyo mga tamabay? ang laman ng 3-in-1 ay kape-creamer-gatas hindi kape-creamer-asukal at lalong hindi kape-creamer-Ovaltine... oke?)

7. Tumoma. Wag malakas sa pulutan. Hehe.

Ako Si M16 At Yur Sirbis Bay

First time ko naramdaman mangarag na katulad ng kahapon. As in low batt na, binibilad pa sa araw para lang magka-power ulit. Pero, as always, soooobrang saya. Aside from needing the kicks of a physical activity, this is also one way of exposing myself to the realities of everyday danger.

Tada!!

Another gunbang Sunday with the Shak Boyz

Same place... Last Castle, Kapitolyo, Pasig in front of the former Ultra Sports Complex. We arrived at the site by 11:00am and before we leaved at around 6:30pm, mga naka seven games na yata ako na non-stop... not even for lunch. Mistake number one.

I will also have to bring my own waterjug next time. A big one. Mistake number two.

We've been short on pictures too because I wasn't able to bring extra batteries for my digicam. Mistake number three.

I've stared too long to that girl in urban camouflage. Now, she's keep on peppering bullets in my mind. Haaay, ang cute. Hope to see her next gunbang session. Mistake number four. Hehe.

Anyway, my HK G3A3 is operational once again... thanks to Papa Willie! The findings was that last Sunday, I kept on triggering the gun even when it was not releasing BB bullets anymore. That fried the motor and the battery lines. They were able to fix it now but I need to buy my own battery pack soon.

Regarding my games, as I said, it was fun. Most of my skirmishes was operated as part of a three or sometimes two-man sniper squad with John Liit as the designated sniper and me as either the advance lookout to check for good sniping locations or the close quarter fire suppport if in case the sniper's position was compromised.

I got another kill this time. The kill-ratio doesn't matter much though but how you played as part of the team. Still, it's just annoying how players will not accede to a hit just because they are "kill-hungry". Ang kukunat!! That's why you can't blame us when our guns are all high-powered and all. Kung ayaw umamin... saktan!!! Bwahahahaha. "Zombies only die when shot in the head" sabi nga. "Zombies" kasi term nila sa mga makakapal ang mga mukhang hindi umaamin pag tinamaan e... kasi they keep on coming back from the dead. I mean c'mon, the sport's a gentleman's game... kung magkukunat lang din sila in able to hoard kills e mag Counter Strike na lang sila.

I never thought zombies were really that annoying kasi until yesterday when I experienced encountering several of them myself. E di binaril ko... ratrat na. Dalwa pa sila. Kitang kita ko tinatamaan sila, I even heard lumagitik yung face mask nung isa. Hindi pa umamin! Tapos nag return fire... tinamaan ako. Ako na lang ang umamin. Demmit!

Next time let's involve Peptalk on the game for these bastards!

Peptalk is the Shakk's lovely baseball bat by the way.

Ang Leon, Ang Mangkukulam, at ang... Lintek, Ano Tagalog Dun??

After some gunbang action last Sunday, the Shakk Boyz charged Rob Galleria to watch the much-awaited Narnia - The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe. We arrived a couple of hours early though for the 9pm screening so after grabbing our tickets, we lazed around Neutral Grounds to clown with the staffs. Pork had thrown in a canister of the "one true beverage" Coke and Pillows-for-everyone in the fray while Jacob went to look for kingdom come whence to unload his gut-stuffs.

As we're unanimously patrons of previews, we headed to the cinema come thirty minutes before the showing to have a rundown of the upcoming films. "Memoirs of Geisha" sure intrigues me. Kras ko si Zang Ziyi e.

On with the blurbs...

Narnia - The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe
Spoiler Alert! Spoiler Alert! Spoiler Alert!

In the movie, it was not explicitly explained where did the world of Narnia came from or how it came about but Professor Kirke - the manor owner - obviously implied that he knew about the weird thing going on with the dimension-crossing wardrobe. I wasn't able to read C.S. Lewis's Chronicles of Narnia novels but it might be that Professor Kirke, himself, had been on Narnia too on the other books. Other than that, the movie is seamless enough to avoid having any other "loose ends" that will leave the viewers baffled on how the heck things had happened. Of course, sans the fast forwarded continuum between the Pevensie siblings' childhood up to their maturity inside the world of Narnia before they finally went back to "reality" at the final part of the film. We can just simply imagine that between those times they stayed and ruled peacefully over the kingdom.

Anyway, the depiction of the world of Narnia in the film is sooooo awesome, especially the winter wasteland setting. It's so fit for the cold, ruthless presence the White Witch should project. From costumes to digital effects, the environment created for the movie is captivating not only for the kids but for the adults as well while maintaining simplicity and straightforwardness in the overall production... no overdoing of dazzling effects, no more-than-needed extravagance in the casts' attires, no exaggerated plot within subplots of a storyline. Everything shown in the production per se was just what was minimally required to make the story bring us to the fantasy world and give us a sense of how it is to be in the shoes of the Pevensie siblings.

I also liked how the director emphasized on the character development of the siblings - Susan the Cerebral, Peter the Judicious, Lucy the Empathetic, and Peter the Brash {waaah! typo! tatanga tanga kasi... it should be Edmund the Brash}. All throughout the movie, the protagonists have compellingly shown that they were doing things as to their nature (as more the obvious to Peter's {ulit pa sa typo hehe! idol talaga si Bob Ong... sinabi nang Edmund!} eventual betrayal because of perhaps his curiosity and/or greed to the throne of Narnia).

All in all, it's a great watch. In a scale of 10, I give it sampung sago... fantastic cinematography, great story, nice approach to the intended theme. I can't give a commentary regarding the book's adaptation for I haven't read any of the seven (?) Narnia novels but I have this feeling that Andrew Adamson (the director) made justice to the original work of C.S. Lewis.

*****

Happy Friday the 13th everyone!!! Quick, taya tayo sa lotto!!!

Humayo Ka Bayani, Huwaran Ka!

PUTI!!!!

"Stainless Longganisa" by Bob Ong (i'm not worthy to speak thy name)!!!

Idol ko si Bob Ong (i'm not worthy to speak thy name).

Astig. Four thumbs up (sama hinlalaki sa paa). Bravo with standing ovation and whistle ala "Tweeeeeweeet!". Galing. Timeless masterpiece. Riot. Cool. Ang gara. Heaaavy, man. Wow.

OO, santo ko si Bob Ong (i'm not worthy to speak thy name). Patron ng Mga Astig na Manunulat. Gabayan niyo po kami.

Amen.

Tales of the Meanderings

Baptism of Fire
I've added another hobby to my gaming portfolio - airsoft wargames (or what my friends often call "gunbang"). Basically, teams are given mission objectives and, equipped with airsoft guns, shoot each other while accomplishing their goal. I had my first game yesterday and it was real adrenaline-pumping fun.

Airsoft guns are mostly replicas of its real-life military counterparts. However, instead of live ammunitions, we use BB pellets as bullets. And it's not something to be shruged off. These electric-powered airsoft guns can propel BB pellets at speeds that is literally "skin-peeling" on exposed flesh that's why most players are clad in real military gears, from camouflaged veils to neoprene masks. On yesterday's game, I was wearing my dad's PSG urban camouflage pants and a tree bark-brown parka courtesy of Jacob. Salamats, man! Last Saturday, I've also bought my own protective gloves, a mesh type face mask, and a camouflage net to cover the flesh on my neck part.

Unfortunately, by some tough luck, I was hit yesterday on an exposed skin on the jugular and it sort of stings until now. They said iL get use with direct hits like that. Some more powerful guns can even produce a red welt on the skin even when hit over a garment, and I've seen first hand proofs of that. I say, I hope I will not come to realize that soon but I'm ready for the experience. Fear begets cowards!! Hehe. May mga kasama pa nga kaming girls na naglalaro e. No reason to chicken out.

Yesterday, our game was held in Last Castle, Pasig - just in front of the former Ultra Sports Complex. It's a spacious, vacant lot with ruined walls and foliage fit for an urban-jungle scenario. The first couple of rounds of games were more like an orientation to me as I take on the surrounding terrains and familiarize with good vantage points.

With it, I also bought my own airsoft gun and tested it on yesterday's games. It's an Heckler and Koch G3A3 assault rifle, famous with the German army during the post-World War 2 era.

Here's a Wikipedia entry about the gun: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heckler_&_Koch_G3

I was able to play 5 games yesterday:

1st game - I used my own HK G3A3. I familiarized myself with the game rules, terrains, and my own rifle's capabilities. I was amazed at how far my gun can shoot. I got it as a second-hand stuff from a friend's friend who is a gunsmith and the internals were modified for that added punch.
2nd game - Still using my own gun, I followed a friend to a trench and got pinned in it as my gun won't shoot anymore. Something's wrong with the motor connection. I just waited the game to end via a time-over.
3rd game - I borrowed an HK MP5KA4 from a friend. The gun's so light and the range is quite limited so I have to join the front line assault in order to have an efficient use with the MP5. Luckily, I got the first kill of the game as I saw something crawling on a nearby bush. I thought he was a teammate at first, but when he started firing at the squad on my left flank, I peppered him with BB bullets. Good riddance. =)
4th game - Still using the MP5 gun. I was able to enggage several enemy hiding on a far wall but my gun just can't reach em. I can't advance though as I was pinned from where I was hiding by BB shots that I just can't seem to tell where the heck it was coming from.
5th game - My friend lent me another gun... an M4A1 with scope. This is "the gun". I really like this as it is very "counter-terrorist"-ish in comparison to that gun I often use when playing Counter Strike. This last game is where I was hit in the chin early on the game. Ouch.

All in all, one astig hobby. Pretty much like playing Counter Strike on a real-life scenario.

iL post the pictures taken during the game when I get a hand on em soon.

Congratulations Buddy!
I would like to take this space and time to congratulate my buddy, Spongebob and Patrick and the rest of the guys of Bikini Bottom for grabbing the Orange Blimp plaque for "Best Cartoon of 2005" in the recent Nickelodeon Awards!

Keep up the good work and more power to Krusty Krabs!

A Place Called Nostalgia
Last Saturday, I went with the Shakk Boyz to scrounge the Quiapo area for hobby tools. Passing by Legarda, Mendiola, Recto, Rizal Ave, and Isettan gave me the creeps, man! It was like only yesterday when I use to wander around these places! Rizal Avenue was now a humongous park strip!! Asan na yung magulong kalye that I used to traverse when I go to Binondo??? Argh.. memories!! I used to pass by these streets up to the Divisoria part of Binondo para ihatid si Baning (not her real name obviously)... kamusta na kaya ikaw? I'm happy because I know you're happy with your life now. I was bitter back then for the things that I could have done but did not. But now, I'm just simply happy for you. You can never have that good a life now with me... I think.

Morayta was sort of different now. We parked in front of FEU and travelled the rest of the destinations on foot. From dental supply stores to watch repair shops, any thing that we deemed worthy to buy for our hobby works, we scrounge. At the end of the day, while nibbling on my sisig platter in Thomas Morato, I was able to buy a plasticard cutter, steel brush, fine-detail brushes, and a container bottle (not mentioning the gunbang gadgets I already said above).

I intend to go back there as I would like to buy a camouflage uniform of my own. Hmmm bakit andaming magandang girls sa school ngayon ha!?! Bakit nung andyan pako e wala masyado ha!!?! Hehe. But then again, I might just be too single-minded that time to look for others. Hehe. Wushus!

I Have Returned

I was tagged by Racks and Yasu...

It goes like this...

a.) The tagged victim has to come up with 8 different points of their perfect lover
b.) Need to mention the sex of the target.
c.) Tag 8 victims to join this game & leave a comment on their Comments saying they've been
tagged.
d.) If tagged the 2nd time, theres no need to post again.

I kinda had a run-down of my ideal girl on my Dec 12 post but to reiterate and explain more here goes another round...

Target: Female (syempre)

1. chinita... yung naniningkit pag ngumingiti.

2. poised pero koboy... girly pero one-of-the-boys... medyo reserved pero game sa lahat... believe me, i never thought girls like these even exist... but they do!!

6. praktikal... marunong sa buhay... yung magtuturo sakin kung pano makipagtawaran ng mas malupit... at sasakay ng tricycle o kakain sa turo-turo (although i dont prefer treating a girl for a trike ride or a carinderia spree... just knowing that she's not against any of those and is more than willing to experience it is enough)

(pucha, sinong me sabing masamang mangarap?!?)

I'm tagging you! Yes, you! Kung sino me gusto sumagot... sige lang!

Salamat po sa pagbabasa! =>

-BO

Yes, you! Kung sino me gusto sumagot... sige lang!
