The Week That Was

24th - After Lunch
I went to the Pit Shop in Sta. Mesa to have some miniature gaming with my hobby friends. My younger bro tagged along and it has been a sort of pseudo-Christmas Party with the guys... con pizza!

24th - Pre-Christmas Eve
I rushed to the Centerpoint to buy something for my "monito". Some of the mum-side relatives - including us - decided to spend the Christmas with our grannies and we had this exchange gift. My "monito" is my cousin slash buddy, Bogart, and I bought a Tribal buckled belt for him.

24th - Christmas Eve
I've stuffed my belly with everything on the dining table that I laid my eyes upon. No waiting for noche buena for me. The rebellious intestinal worms inside me were on riot already. Here's a summary of what I've had:

Igado (a Kapampangan dish?)
Embutido (or Morcon... kung anuman pinagka-iba nila)
Speed Freak Chicken (chicken prepared in turbo cooker... hehe)
Beef A-blah Blah (i dunno how it's called but it has sweet reddish sauce)
Pancit Canton (not the instant one)
Fruit Salad

...I don't think this is all of them. What was left forgotten were washed away from my memories because of the revelrie of having my palate tickled to orgasmic levels. Hehe.

Anyway, I got a very very soft pillow from my "monito", and 500 bucks from my Ninong Tito!

25th - Evening
Arriving at the Shak tambayan in Kamuning aboard the local Barangay Mobile (yes, I sort of got lost and hitched a ride from the Barangay's wheels) was not bad at all. "Yuuuun, huli!". Hehe... kala siguro na-bragansya ako ng Barangay.

Anyway, the Shak's Christmas Left-Over Party had my guts cramped with the almighty dish - SISIG (wooohoo!), some egg/pork en beans concoction, deep-fried "un-lean" meat, tuna & crackers brew, and that PUTANGINASOBRANGANGHANG ramen potion. Hehe. I just love that last dish.

The Left-Over Party, I believe, was a long-running traidition of the Shak boys - my closest friends on my miniature hobby. Being the geeks we are, we played a round of Warmachine (a miniature game) while indulging on several bottles of Vodka. Nooo... I didn't touch that Cosack... taena, amoy acetone! Dun ako sa Gilbey's. On the other hand, the Shak geeks from the other table played a board game - Twighlight of the Imperium (?).

It was fun. I went home with a container-full of miniature Orcs that I got from the Shak's "Incorrigible One". Salamats Garr!

26th - Afternoon
I finished painting another miniature model. It's what we call the Ravenwing Landspeeder Tornado in gaming terms. The one on the left is the speeder I just finished last Monday.

27th - Evening
I treated the family for a buffet dinner in Dad's Glorietta. They have this cute raggedy dog doll give-away. Eksakto violet yung napunta sa kin, and it's now on my table in the office. Again, I got my stomach jampacked and there's still an impending medya noche (?) celebration to go!! Demmit! I need me some good sweating next year.

Maligayang Pasko at Maligo sa Bagong Taon!!!

First Christmas ko siguro to na wala ang tatay ko... hindi sa nalulunkot ako. Wala akong pakelam sa kanya. Kaso "first" pa din yun di ba. "For the record" pa din.

So, since I will be the family head this Christmas, I decided that a little family bonding is needed.

utal (n) - babaeng utol. Source: Diksyunaryo ni Lolo

Ayun, maybe on the 25th I will treat the family for some good ol dinner and assess plans for the year ahead.

Also, this'L be the first time again that i'L not celebrate New Year in Batangas! The last time I celebrated it outside Lipa City was back when I was still in the 4th Grade! Ilang taon nang nakalipas yun? Astiiiig.

Pano pinarentahan na yung bahay sa Batangas kasi nag "for good" na yung lahat ng pamilya dito sa Manila. Kaka-miss tuloy ang tropa dun. We have this standing tradition that after the New Year's eve, we will group up and go to each of our houses to eat.

Nyahahaha!

Have a meaningful holiday everyone!!!

Given Title January 2006 - Friday the 13th

Yesterday
We had our office Christmas party at Cravings in Fraser Building. I was among the group that arrived early in the place, including our guest - Ross, who is from the office's Sydney branch. With that, I had been seated next to him and talked the bloody stuff out of everything. Take note: "bloody". Haha. Nakaka-hawa ang accent ng mga Aussy lalo na if you're trying to understand what they are saying and in the same time, patching up the idea behind what they are talking about. =)

Hehe. Pero given that, based on what we talked about, basically pareho ang financial crisis na nararanasan ng mga pamilya dito at sa Sydney.

Anyway, here are the games that I participated in yesterday:

Malong Race (three groups of five that will race around a distant marker while paired with a groupmate inside a Malong) - we won!
Polo Passing (pass the Polo candy from a toothpick - which should be bitten - to a groupmate's until it reaches the end of the line) - we suck, big time!
Link Em (we were given straw-strings which we should use to link up ourselves by passing it from one end of our sleeves and goin out through the other) - we lose!

Wala akong ginawang kabulastugan sa party ha... pramis. Pormal na empleyado ako pag sa opisina! Peksman!

Defensive. Hehe.

A Day After Last Last Night's Yesterday
Justice League - Manila Christmas Party!!

Ang mga pumunta:
Obi
Dan and Aynz (with guest, Canadian Lou)
Wacha and the Gang (with guest, Aunt and Uncle America)
DD
Man and H ("Aytch")
Flashlings (kids ni Dan the Flash)

After makabit yung bagong fanbelt, we had our lunch first then set off again to Sta Rosa.

Dodgem (nothing but an old school bump car ride... masama na tingin samin ni DD nung facilitator kasi ginawa naming jousting match yung bump car.... kuha kami ng bwelo sa malayo tas banggaan kami head on. yahooow!!! kaya nga bump car eh!!)
Anchors Away (Astig, as always. Enough said.)
Rialto (now this one's disappointing. i've been to Enchanted Kingdom <"E.K." sa mga konyo... "peryahang magara" sa mga jologs...> for a couple of times now and I was always looking forward for a Rialto experience BUT for the Nth time, it has always been the Alpha One Cowboy simulation that was featured. Kasawa! Di ko mahuli-huli yung ibang palabas. I was screaming like hell here because of... uhmm... wala lang... trip lang. Para masaya. hehe.)
Kart Trak (karting!!! tis rockz man! si DD may experience sa karting kasi finalist sa Marlboro Red Racing School yun e... but for a noobie like me, it was always a total thrill. After DD overtaking me like 3 times, my arms were already throbing in pain. Pawis-steering technology... hanep. Anyway, when Dan knew about this, we hit the pavement again for the second time. Respect for the Speed Freaks!)

Other stuffs:
- fireworks display: as always, breath-taking pa din. i've always been fond watching such displays anyway since i was a kid.
- Space Shuttle: ayun. i've already tried this ride for three times in the past... and the last time I rode I promised NOT to try that again. so hindi ako sumama sa kanila. Yes, me and Dan did our chicken dance on the sidelines while watching them scream hell on the loops. May palusot lang si Dan... "ayaw ng mga kids sumakay." Wushu! T%&* mo! Nyahaha.
- we tried the basketball shooting gallery and i walked away with 60pts... better than what I averagely score with the same game in Time Zone - G4. =)
- I saw cute Koreans... waaah, Koreans... lotsa pretty Koreans! Kaso ambabata... waaah, bakit pa pinauso ang electric chair! There's also Beth Tamayo... ang cute grabe.
- we would like to try the Rapids and that Log ride but most of us shied away from the idea of being drenched in water on a cold night. Man and H tried those rides though and ended up buying souvenir shirts. =)
- Aynz and Lou had henna tattoos, and Lou just always kept on messing with Ayn's, unmindfully! I think they've had her tattoo retouched for three times.

Pictures will follow! Oist upload mo na Wacha!!

The "Yesterday" of Yesterday's Yesterday
I went to the Pit Shop in Sta Mesa for the finals of the Gladiator Cup 2005 for my hobby, Warhammer 40,000.

I also bought two miniature tanks and several infantry figures to reinforce my army. Pamasko ko na din sa sarili ko.

After that, I went out with some of the guys for a couple of beer-talkin somewhere in E.Rod Ave. before eventually heading to the Shak to hang out and check my new acquisitions. The gunbang guys were there, preparing for their impending Sunday airsoft wargaming. I might join em by early next year and I need to prepare my battle gears soon. I need a face mask and I want a cooL-looking army camouflage to match that. For the gun, I think they are willing to lend one for me first, but I eventually wanted to have my own M-14.

Enchanted League

This Sunday, Justice League - Makati will invade Enchanted Kingdom for our own Tropa Christmas Party!!!

Rosters of attendees:

Norman - Super Man (and probably that foreign girl only known as "H" *pronounced Aytch* ...dapat British accent)

Wacha - GREEN Lantern (and Kumander Lantern - the wife - and the Greenlings - the kids)

Dan the Flash (the "fastest" guy in the world)
and partner,
Ayn the Flash Kumander (she who stops him being "quick"... hehe)

DD - Diet Danny (the gentle giant)

Obi the Boy Wander (ang pambansang palaboy... yeba!)

...sino pa ba daw sasama?

Koya JB? Jzent? Rainier "Mher" Castillo? Angel?

And the Best Comedy Film of the Year is...

King Kong!!!

Yep, you read that right. Well, that's what I think about the movie having watched it yesterday with the Justice League tropa after work. And gento yung kwentong kabulastugan kagahapon...

Dan the Flash will gonna borrow it for their costume slash Christmas party today. Before we actually got inside the cinema, sinuot ko yung salamin tas kuwari bulag ako... plano talaga namin yun. I have my right hand holding Dan's shoulder for support while he ushered me towards the ticket officer. Wah epek! Hehe. Anyway, to put an exclamation mark to the grand act... nung papasok na kami sa loob ng cinema... sinadya kong mabangga sa pinto. Sabay kamot sa ulo. Nyahahaha. Si Dan kasi e, gabulok na guide. *knock on the wood, trip lang po*

King Kong
Spoiler Alert! Spoiler Alert! Spoiler Alert!

...King Kong is a comedy flick.

I dunno if it was how the producers wanted to create it but the film is funny, if not outright hillarious.

Obviously, the movie is not cerebral... it will not require you to analyze small details of physics, anatomy, and dynamics involved in the process or you'll just end up whining about how the hell things happened. And when I said "details", it means a LOT of details. An example is this scene when King Kong first saw Ann Darrow and snatched her from the wooden scaffolds where she was tied by the tribesmen. Imagine, she was tied by a rope that has the capacity to support her whole body weight and was snapped out of it without tearing her arms apart! Another thing, and the most obvious along the film, is Ann's apparent resistance to gashes... and mind you, her clothes might have been made from adamantium too. She and her elegant dress, although had been dirtied, remained unscathed until their last moments on Skull Island! And I can personally list more items to add that will make this post a page-size long! So, the thing when watching this film is to stop mulling over the details and enjoy the hillarity.

Now, why the hillarity? This is where I got disappointed. I was expecting a hardcore action depiction of the first King Kong film... a cinematical upgrade of the predecessor. Yes, the digital effects are waaaay more cooL and the storyline could pass as a good one too but I didn't like the way they've inserted humor on several scenes in the movie. I believe the director intended it. But it'L be better (for a supposed "serious" movie) if they've gone away with it altogether. Here you'll see King Kong snubbing Ann Darrow on a human fashion... y'know, those eye-rolling, and turning-it's-back thing while sporting the "nagtatampo ako" look. The poor ape is NOT soliciting sympathy that way (if that's what the director wanted to do with those scenes)... it just made King Kong looked goofy! Paramis!

My favorite funny scene though was when Kong finally subdued the last T-Rex and the humongous ape toyed with the dino's jaw by closing and opening it! Pare, riot!!!! Hehe.

To sum up, it is a fairly good watch for a three hour movie... and I was just being kind when I say that. Hehe. You'll love the movie for the cinematic scenes and the digital effects. Period.

Moving On

I went to the Megamall last Saturday with my sidekick slash younger bro, Spongklong, to check out the IPMS National Scale Modelling competition. The guys I was with in the UP-College of Fine Arts every Saturday organized the event, so it must not hurt a bone to show my support to the community. The exhibit was located at the Building A Atrium and we were able to arrive there on a time when there was not much people huddled on the area... yet - lunch time! So without further ado, I grabbed my cam and shoots gallore... LOOK WHO DROPPED BY....

On that day too, I was able to buy the latest FHM Calendar with Katrina Halili as the model. It was suppose to go to my "monito" for our Christmas Party's "exchange gift" but it was murmuring to me every night, saying "don't give me... please." and who am I to disappoint a damsel in distress. Hehe. She has almost all the qualities I look for in a girl (superficial muna ha... wag hipokrito): chinky (yung pag ngumiti naglalaho ang mata), chubby na sexy ("sexiness is in the eye of the beer-holder" ika nga, pero iba ang trip kong sexy e... yung medyo me laman ng unti), tall (nakita ko na siya in person... tall enough), cheeky (cute ng cheeks), long hair (duh!), and morena (di ko hilig yung kaputian).... game, sa pang-loob naman (hindi underwear ha): maangas (yung may dating... yung totoo sa sarili... pranka, outgoing, pero nasa lugar... parang balahurang, hindi... hirap explain e... hehe). Yun na yun... of course, some of those that I didn't mention, for the reason that I don't know her personally anyway, are... nice, practical (yung marunong sa buhay), and definitely NOT a socialite, a brat, a konyo, and/or other qualities landing on that same genre.

Hmm.. what else? Ayan, I was starting to move on from the grief of having lost my favorite dog when I saw this puppy pug from Bio's - Megamall. Pang-asar. Ang kyut kyut nya, but unlike Pogi, it can keep its tongue inside its mouth. Pogi could not. As in all the time his tongue was sticking out. Astig no?

I wonder, "Normal ba dito na may bulag na nanonood ng pelikula?" or baka ayaw lang talaga nila magtawa sa bulag na ang trip e "manood" ng sine. Kenya kenyang trip lang baga.

Astig no?

Pogi the Pug
(October 7, 2001 - December 3, 2005)
"Abah! Abah! Harrrrr!"
Paalam, Pogi! Paalam!
